i'll bring University credit union has been my bank since 2020 when I moved here and I was coming from Redstone Federal credit Union which Is one of the best financial institutions in the state I think. I didn't think that AUCU was going to be able to compete, i was dead wrong. The first couple of years for the most part they were just like your typical local credit union always friendly and helpful but it wasn't until I found myself in a really really terrible financial and had made its terrible decision to take out a loan from one of these terrible places that just rob you and I took out a $2000 loan with a 299% interest rate. Of course I didn't see the interest rate before I signed on the dotted line. I am a single family home and my income is currently the lowest it's ever been in my life. So I have been making $336 every two week payment payments on my $2000 loan for a couple of months when I went AUCU for help. It was my last attempt cause I had tried to figure out every other way in the world to get out of that loan cause it was taking my whole paycheck every two weeks. I went into a UCU at about five minutes to closing one afternoon and the complete panic about this loan situation I've gotten myself into and when I did I met an angel. Mr. Shane Smith was literally my saving grace that day and like I said they were getting ready to close and I had just given him all of this information that was insane but he told me that he would call me the next morning. I left there that day thinking.."yeah right, oh well atleast i tried..." The next morning before 9 AM he was calling me to try to get more information about my situation and my loan and he asked me if I could come in later that afternoon to speak with him so I made arrangements with work so that I could and I came in that afternoon. We sat down and went over my income and what I was having to pay towards that loan and he went above and beyond to get me approved for two loans so that I could pay that one off and get rid of that 299% interest rate that without him, I would've never ever been able to get out of. he was so nice to me, he never treated me like he was judging me or my situation. He just went above and beyond to do everything he could to help me. They gave me a loan we paid off the other one sitting in his office together he got me set up on a payment plan that I could handle with my income and now I have paid those loans off in full. Afterwards I sent Shane an email telling him just how much I appreciated how he had gone way over what most people would've done to help someone and after I sent that email to Shane a week later I met the mailman at my door with the package. I had no idea what was in this package or who it was from but when I looked on the outside of the envelope it was from AUCU. I thought oh Lord what is this?? When I opened it I had all kinds of swag such as sunglasses and Auburn an ice cream scoop but football schedule a really nice phone charger all kinds of goodies and the nicest letter that I've ever been written from the president of the bank. He told me how much they appreciated my business and that I was part of their family and that they were very helped me happy to be able to have helped me out of that situation and that that's what they were there to do every day. I literally started crying as soon as I read it and it meant more to me than they will ever know. If you were looking for a local credit union that truly cares about its members I'm telling you this is the one.

Been a customer for over three years and went into the bank to deposit a retirement check into my account.was told specifically that they would have to hold the check for 7 days but I would have x amount of dollars available on the next business day. That day comes and nothing. I call the bank and they proceed to tell me that regardless of what the transaction receipt and your account says you have to wait the full seven days to get anything..I feel like this was very misleading information because why tell a customer something is going to be available knowing its not..very poor business and I will be taking my banking elsewhere.

For starters I’ve been a customer for a long time. I used the coin machine a while back, I tired to open a new account with that money and I couldn’t. I left, came back 3 months later with coin receipt and basically I had to throw it away because it was nothing they could do. So they just took all my money for free.

Auburn University Credit Union has been the best bank I’ve worked with. The staff is AWESOME!! Especially Ms. Janice Finley who has helped me with several loans in the loan department. Her knowledge, experience, and incredible member service and care has kept me at this bank for over 20 years. I recommend her for all your banking needs.
Weekdays 9am–4pm typically have the shortest wait times for new member inquiries.
