I banked with APCO for over 11 years and was a happy customer. I had a mortgage and an auto loan with them and was very happy all the way through paying everything off. However, that all changed around the time of this Southern Energy rebranding. The first indicator that something was wrong was when my online connections to APCO started acting up. I used Plaid and MX, and my Plaid connection went out intermittently until one day when it completely died. Then, my MX transaction records started coming in duplicates, with my checking transactions also popping up in my savings for no reason. I brought this to APCO's attention over the phone and spoke with a manager. He told me that APCO and their IT would do nothing to resolve the issue. I have worked in software development for years and even did EDI development at one time. I know that APCO has the means to correct errors of this nature. They simply refuse to. The final and most alarming issue was when I finally had enough and decided to close my account. The woman over the phone was so quiet I could barely hear her, and when I could finally understand her, she made closing the account as miserable a process as possible. They refused to accept a fillable PDF as a closing document, and I had to print, hand-sign, and scan everything back in. Then, without any warning or explanation beforehand, they closed my account, cut a paper check, and mailed it off in a regular envelope. That check contained every penny I had, including a substantial savings. I was given no tracking number or confirmation of address. I am still waiting for my check, and I have no idea what I'll do if I don't receive it. APCO, now Southern Energy Credit Union, has been an absolute nightmare to work with. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these people.

The credit union.is great!! Its the online for me. Make an online deposit, then it's under review? Then its rejected because u can't see endorsement but u can see it. Now u redeposit and now u have to recycle and wait for review. I think I will just walk in till they fix their issues. Faster to drive to teller

APCO has the worst customer service when you have to call and speak to someone. I've only kept an account with them due to interest received on my accounts. I have worked at the same company for 6 years and always get paid on the same day. I've reached out to my HR group, and they told me that this pay cycle ran as normal (so no change from any previous pay cycle when I got my paycheck on Tuesday evening). This pay cycle APCO is holding my direct deposit paycheck 2 additional days. When I called to ask why, they don't even attempt to tell me why the change. Both employees talked over me and didn't even both to actually look and see if anything was different from previous pay cycles. Just blamed my employer over and over again in a condescending tone even though nothing has changed on my employer's side. I'm going to start looking for other banks/credit unions because interest is not worth dealing with this incompetence. I will say, employees in branch locations are very friendly and competent, but I've never had that experience when dealing with them over the phone.
Weekdays 9am–4pm typically have the shortest wait times for new member inquiries.
