Honestly, I can’t believe I’m writing this review β€” especially since I left an excellent review in October 2024. Unfortunately, my experience with Five Star this year has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I am a long-time, loyal customer who has successfully refinanced two vehicles with Five Star in the past. Those experiences were smooth and professional. This year, however, the service has been disorganized, inconsistent, and completely lacking transparency. On 10/23/2025, my vehicle was totaled and I immediately notified my loan officer, Jerri Cordell. Mrs. Cordell was an excellent loan officer β€” responsive, compassionate, and someone who genuinely advocated for her customers. Shortly after, I was informed she was no longer with the company and my loan was reassigned to Terra Firster. From that point forward, everything went downhill. I received multiple, conflicting explanations for why Five Star could not move forward with financing a new auto loan β€” all while I was required to continue making regular payments on a vehicle I no longer possessed. First, I was told we had to wait for the insurance check β€” it was received. Then I was told to purchase a new vehicle using dealership financing and refinance afterward β€” I did that, with the intent to refinance through Five Star. Next, I was told we had to wait for the GAP coverage amount β€” that was determined and paid, yet it left a $1,700 balance, which is confusing considering the purpose of GAP insurance. Five Star requested a second review of the GAP claim, and I am still waiting for an update. Despite all required steps being completed β€” and multiple requests for a supervisor callback β€” I received no clear answers, no timelines, no accountability, and absolutely no sense of urgency. At no point did Mrs. Firster or her supervisor show concern for the situation or my financial stress. At that time, I had no vehicle and was desperate. With my back against the wall, I purchased a new car using dealer financing last month. I have been in communication with Mrs. Firster since 11/7/25, yet I only received a concrete answer this morning β€” my refinance was denied. AND THE ONLY REASON WHY I RECEIVED A CONCRETE ANSWER IS BECAUSE I WENT INTO THE LOCAL BRANCH on S. Oates TO SEEK ASSISTANCE with this matter. NOT ONCE BUT TWICE. The ladies there were so nice and attentive. They exemplified what good customer service is. They had to send an email to headquarters for me to receive an answer. Although, I have not been contacted by a supervisor like requested in the email the ladies sent, Mrs. Firster is who they had continue contact with meπŸ™„ What makes this situation even more concerning is that Five Star refinanced my 2023 Telluride on 10/31/2024 β€” BEFORE the GAP check for my Nissan Maxima was received on 12/4/2024. This proves the process has been handled differently in the past. The inconsistency in policy and resistance to finding solutions is unacceptable. I am now being pressured into making two separate car payments, which is not reasonable. My new car payment is due January 9th, which is exactly why I was pushing to refinance β€” so the remaining balance could be included in the new loan. At this point, I feel overlooked, undervalued, and unsupported as a customer. I am still waiting for an update on the second GAP review and a concrete plan forward. I truly miss the level of advocacy and professionalism that once existed at this company.
