I just used my ATM card to withdraw $100 from this Antioch branch and one of the $20 bills that the machine delivered was slightly smaller than any standard $20 bill. I had a strange feeling and immediately went into the branch and explained what happened to a teller, a husky lady with curly hair. As soon as I finished, with a disconnected facial expression, she refused to exchange the bill. She claimed that she had no certainty that I had obtained the bill from the ATM. I told her she could check the footage and she responded that she didn’t have access to it in a robotic way. I was strangely struck by her lack of empathy. I expressed that if anyone else challenged the validity of the bill, I would then be stuck with it and a $20 loss from a bill that came from their institution. She again refused and told me that I could deposit back the bill into the machine. At this point I requested to speak with the manager. She exhibited a sarcastic smile and told me that she was going to check and see if the manager WAS available. After a few minutes, she came out with another $20 bill and told me that the manager had instructed her to exchange the bill for me. I do not recommend this institution and I will stay away from it, judging from the lack of professionalism and unfriendliness of the teller.

I will start off by saying that I worked at Redwood Credit Union about 20 years ago. It is incredible how things have changed. I wanted to refinance my vehicle and decided to go with a credit union since my husband did his with Patelco CU. I decided to do mine with Dow Credit Union since is closer to my house. At first I was excited my interest rate was low and payment was mid $200. 2 years later they called me and wanted proof of insurance which I had and was sent to them. They said that their name needed to be in my insurance. I called the insurance and they said that they didn’t need that, to just show them proof that I had insurance. That once my 6 months expired then they can add it to the new policy. I called Valerie from Dow CU who was in charge of that and inform her what my insurance said. and she said that that was not true. Again, I called my insurance and they said the same thing. This went on for a long time. Mean while they added over $3000 on my loan and my payment went up to 50%. This wen on for a while. I finally did it and sent it. But apparently those forms didn’t have the policy number which was odd because I had sent them proof of insurance before. Most of my conversations happened with an employee named Stephanie a Hispanic lady since Dow CU assumed that I did not spoke English. Therefore, she would always call me and either leave Spanish messages or talk to me in Spanish. But since this went on for a long time she got frustrated. One day our conversation ended as followed: she told me that it was getting exhausted talking to me and that if I had a complaint to please reach out to her manager and she abruptly hang up on me. I called back but no answered and that is normal they usually have a hard time answering the phone. This was unprofessional and left my issue unresolved. A credit union should provide respectful, helpful service not dismiss its members this way. Unfortunately I do not recommend this place. I feel like instead of members they have customers. I work and would never tell my patients that it is getting exhausted talking to them. I don’t work for free which I assume Dow CU don’t as well. My lesson learned is to read every single letter from any contract. I hope this help others to see what other options they have when it comes to car loans.

I have been dealing with Dow Credit Union for several year now. I don't know what their secret is for training their staff in customer service but it excels every other financial institution I deal with. Well Done Dow Credit Union.
