Left this bank about 12 years ago after years of subpar service and exorbitant fees. Apparently they are even worse now. The customer service is so bad it borders on the comical. Seriously, I felt like I was in a dark SNL skit. We took out the money they didn’t steal from us years ago and are now with a teachers’ Credit union and they are the polar opposite of SAFCU. Friendly, accommodating, organized, trained, clear communication, respect for members - All things that you will not find at SAG-Aftra FCU. If you’re looking for a bank that will give you a positive experience, won’t drain your account, and won’t keep you up at night, PLEASE stay away from this credit union!

This bank has lied to me multiple times about the APR I was getting and so many more problems. Here's the short version - Told me my APR for my auto loan was 6.4 at 72 months guaranteed then switched it as I was signing papers to 8.8 and 60 months - Told me that I couldn't even buy a car that wasn't paid off by the owner after I found a car (wasn't true) - told me I had 60 days to find a car but then only gave me 30 days and ran my credit twice for the same account - and so much more. For context, I made the mistake of dealing with this bank on two separate credit lines in separate years and it's just gotten worse. No one knows what they are talking about at this bank. Everyone will tell you something different about everything. From changing my APR while I was there with the car owner they told me literally "Do you know how many people complain to me that they were lied to" and then said, "I tell them complaining won't do anything for you." Ya that was the guy who fills papers out with you who is also the rudest person on the planet at the Burbank location. I thought we were going to get in a fight the way he was looking at me. I was lied to about everything else. Someone told me after I searched and found a car that I could no longer buy that car until that owner paid off the car and had the title in hand (it ended up being false). The lady told me she was so sure of this but luckily I knew a bit more and said after 10 minutes of her insisting she was right to ask a manager. After 20 minutes of being on hold, she came back and told me she was wrong. You can only imagine the problems this was going to cause find only paid-off cars if I believed her. None of their portal services work which they make you rely on completely to use and even after 2 weeks I still don't have a balance transfer they were supposed to do (another credit line I should have never gotten into with these guys). I could go on with so much more but I promise you I just enough with this bank so I wrote this. This bank is the worst bank I have ever dealt with, has cost me more money, and everything is always 10 times harder, time-consuming, and more broken than any other bank or credit union I have ever dealt with.

There is a serious need for retraining—particularly in basic communication skills, tone, and professionalism. This experience has been far from what I would expect from a company that values its customers.

So it was time for me and my partner to open up our very first joint-bank account and I have been SAG since 2004 and figured, why not! This went so very well Denice was wonderful and was very methodical with us both and gave us a clear and kind and fun way of opening an account with them. It took within 30 minutes and was not hard at all. What you need is an ID with your current address on it, A lease agreement, and fully paid SAGAftra dues that they verify over the phone upon opening. There are fees here and there if overdrafts occur but nothing too out of the ordinary. I returned the next week when my online banking profile would not work and Trisha stepped me through like the awesome former New Yorker she is and all while smiling. In the end, this branch is a happy branch where all employees seem to jive well and listen to amazingly curated disco while doing so. Im happy with my account opening process and look forward to many years of business with them all. Keep up the good work and dont stop till you get enough!
