Banking here has been nothing but an exercise in long-term torture. For over a decade, I’ve put up with poor service at their scant branch locations (only three in all of Southern California), very limited hours of operation (branches aren’t open on weekends), only marginally competitive car loan rates, a really sleazy credit card issuer (Elan Financial Services), and a low-tech experience (horrible website and app, with little to no app integrations). And barely this year (2025) did they finally announce they’re rolling out tap-to-pay capability on our debit cards. Embarrassing! The only reason I stuck around for so long was pure nostalgia—my father, a retired DWP employee (passed in 2010), got me into this credit union. But the final straw was how they took advantage of me by charging me $174 on a legitimate payroll check that they held for SIX DAYS. My girlfriend has since gotten me into a different credit union and shown me that credit union banking doesn’t have to be this bad. There are better ones out there, and they’re fairly easy to join.

I’ve been a member for over 20 years, and I’ve never felt more disrespected. This credit union does not care about its members. Alyson Richard and Gabby from the fraud department were completely incompetent, dismissive, and unhelpful. They acted like they couldn’t be bothered, even though my account was compromised. After two decades of loyalty, I’m taking my money elsewhere. Do yourself a favor — don’t bank here.

I always have such a wonderful experience when coming to WPCCU. I highly recommend talking to the branch sales manager Salvador Martinez. He’s ALWAYS professional and kind when it comes to answering my questions. He definitely goes above and beyond for his members. It’s always a joy coming to this credit union and seeing his welcoming smile. Thank you Salvador for all your hard work!

Absolutely the most unorganized inconvenient bank I have ever dealt with. Constantly babysitting the bank with my auto insurance. They send letters threatening to add money to my loan for insurance when I'm already paying 450$ a month for full coverage. My insurance has forwarded me the emails as proof but then poof another 390$ added to my car loan. It has been a constant battle send my proof of insurance declaration page 5 times before they STOP! Worst bank I have ever had. My next loan will not be with them. Beneficial has better interest rates anyway. Don't waste your time or sanity with WPCCU. They also charge overdraft fees by posting withdrawals before deposits even though I have direct deposit and deposits pending

The absolute worst. I've been a member for a long time, and there have often been problems (they once switched their check history system right before tax time and no records from the previous year were available on line), but this year was the worst. Tens of thousands of dollars went missing from my account, and they admit it was their fault. I got lots of apologies, but no solutions. It's been nearly two months now, and they're blaming the fact that the money is still in limbo on the check recipient's bank, but acknowledge that none of that would have happened if not for their own screw up. Save yourself the massive headache and get an account at another Credit Union ...unless you prefer apologies over solutions.
