I visited the 1st United Credit Union in Pleasanton on the morning of May 20, 2025. I was there to deposit some funds and to establish an online account. I was assisted by Ms. Alondra Torres. Ms. Torres exceeded all my expectations regarding results of the visit and the level of service I was provided. Ms. Torres was friendly and professional in her interaction. She efficiently established the online account as well as undertaking and completing additional account related actions. I was more than entirely pleased with the service I was provided by Ms. Torres.

My experience with 1st united has been the worst experience I have ever had with a car loan. I received a refund from the dealer I purchased from and they overnighted a check to 1st united. I called the credit union as soon as I had proof of delivery and was ensured that since it was delivered it would be processed that same day by 3:30pm. At 3:30pm there was no proof of deposit. I called a few more times throughout the day and they kept ensuring me that I would see it posted before the end of the day. (I made sure they understood the need to have the refund reflected on my account) after all the reassurances, I called back again at the end of the day – and was told that my check unfortunately got put in the wrong box and did not make it with the deposits and would have to wait until the next business day. Which was Monday!! I was also told "your check arrived in the last 1.5 hours of the last day of the week" When It in fact got delivered 3.5 hours prior to that! I have proof of delivery and sent them the screenshot. The issue is how many times I was reassured though they never actually confirmed with their team and the blatant lies to try to get around actually fixing the issues. I will NEVER bank or do another loan through this credit union. I will give props to Jeanette with the customer service team who was the only person to do the due diligence of actually getting facts before promising things. However, the rest of their customer service is the worst. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

I’ve had trouble being able to log into my account for quite a while now. I finally got around to calling and had the privilege to talk to Mike. He was absolutely wonderful and so so helpful! We made sure all my information was up to date and I was able to get back into my account. You know how sometimes you dread calling the bank or places because you can get thrown around in circles? This didn’t happen at all and I had a great experience.

EDIT: Gave an additional star because Mariann @1st United reached out, explained some of the difficulties they're having w/the new tech/website platform, etc - her customer service was great, but unfortunately with the web issues, she couldn't assist me in setting up a payment. I ended up paying off my loan completely and closing my account. When every financial institution on the planet has online bill pay figured out, 1st United makes it a task to simply pay a monthly bill. I would recommend avoiding doing business with 1st United if possible. I got linked up with them through an auto loan - I'd have taken a higher interest rate had I known how terrible the experience working with 1st United would have been.

I'm surprised by the bad reviews. I've been banking with them for approximately 35-40 years (pre name change). I've had great experiences in branch, over the phone, and using the website which is now more user friendly. I definitely recommend 1stUCU.
