Please find another credit union — there are plenty of better ones around. The customer service here is horrible. The staff’s behavior was unprofessional, and they made me wait forever without saying a word. No one even came to update me until I got up and started asking. I don’t live nearby anymore, and I honestly regret stopping by thinking they’d actually help.

Bad customer service and employees can't even answer why your bank tier dropped with great banking habits. Not to mention they just say it's an automated system and each employee handles the same situation in a totally different manner. My money is put on hold after originally being cleared for no apparent reason. Then they hang up on you after being on hold with no call back.

A member of Montera (SMCU) for over 10 years now. This 5 star review is because Ashley (1525) was polite and courteous. As soon as she started helping me she greeted me, maintained professionalism from start to finish, and most importantly, left an impression of a true friendly service. I understand that it is something simple, but nowadays something as simple as that has become rare.

Received a call from the fraud department. I told them I didn’t approve the transaction. “Okay I’m going to put you approved it and have a nice day.” Can they do anything about it? No. “You are going to have to jump through hoops to get your money back.” Lmao WHAT? What a great service.

If I could give them 0 stars I would, the discrimination at this place is insane. It's sad that a valued customer can't even get their regular paycheck of 2yrs straight cleared here. They placed 2 holds on my check so I couldn't pay my bills, if I didn't call over the phone my rent and my car payment would of been late. If you're black or brown you should only go to the East Palo Alto branch trust me. The reasoning for the Redwood City branch not clearing my check was fear it would bounce. Again this is my regular paycheck that has never bounced in 2yrs, not to mention I deliver the checks for the company I work for and I'm one of the head supervisors. I had my check and paystub in person but that wasn't enough proof to show my check was legit. This Redwood City Branch has even asked to see my social security card after presenting my ID before I can make a transaction. I've financed a car through them with no late payments, I've never been negative, and I'm on my grandma's account who's been with this credit union for over 30 yrs. But I guess all this isn't enough to clear my paycheck on the date that is on the check. Over the phone I have no issues and EPA overrides the hold "EVERY" single time. It's absurd the branch closest to corporate and where I actually opened my account can't help me. The customer service is non existent as well, I proved them wrong with getting my check cleared and when I go back to withdraw money for my rent they placed a 2nd hold on my account and the little guy in the middle between the manager and the teller had a smirk on his face. Not knowing I got it cleared again after leaving for the 3rd time. They stated my check might bounce but gave me $900 of my check and said nothing can be done until Monday. The saddest part is they honestly seem happy keeping your hard earned money on hold and not accessible to you. I just hope the little goofy guy who smirked after placing my check on hold for 2nd time is still smirking after I talk to one of the head managers in corporate I know. It's all fun and games until you have to answer to the real boss for your unprofessional and extremely poor customer service. I forgot to add being treated like this in your hometown is even worse, I'm literally one of the best athletes out of that little city and get treated like dirt when you have money is crazy.
