Got an email from MAF about opening a Kingdom Builder account. Great way to support them and great interest rate! Unfortunately the credit union is limited to Wire Transfers for sending/receiving funds. After multiple calls to customer service I just had to close my account. It's a real shame, because it would be a great service and mission supporting to be able to use.

This credit union is a scam. They are oddly rude and don't seem to care about the consequences of their bad business practices. I had an account with them for a year. Didn't use it much, I applied for their credit card. The system pre-approved me, I signed the documents but the card never came. Upon finally getting ahold of the right person, I was told that they decided to decline ( causing a hard inquiry on my credit). Ok , I guess it was what it was. Then six months later they send me a Pre-approval letter, as well as numerous Pre-approval emails.. so I accepted the offer. Signed the documents, received verification that they were countersigned and that my card was on the way...it never came again...After a month I finally got the underwriter on the phone. I was told very rudely, that my application was declined and that they would close my account! No explanation, no empathy, just a rude operator saying the same answer to every question. " i am informing you that your application is declined and your account will now be closed".. ANOTHER unnecessary hard inquiry as well as more than a bad taste in my mouth. Don't do business with these scammers , trying to veil their business with moral superiority. I don't see where any of their conduct is Christian like.

Worst bank I've ever worked with!!!! My car loan went through them, they didn't have auto pay set up at first, had to make every payment manually. They finally got there system able to do autodraft. I'm trying to pay my loan off in full, they won't let me pay over the phone, they say there system can't take the payment online. It's 2026 and they want me to send a cashiers check through the mail to pay off my car. There trying to make this as difficult as possible, so I can't pay off my loan. This bank is the worst I've ever had a loan through.

Today (09/25/25) I just got started with opening an account. It’s not one I would be using Direct Deposit with. So the funds would be coming from another bank account I have. After I applied, the webpage said to wait at least 24 hours so the application can be looked over and approved. I go to my email inbox and find an email that said my account was already approved and ready to go. I didn’t know which I should listen to/follow. So I called customer service straight away. The wait time was about 1.5 minutes. Sina answered. She listened to understand and then empathized with me about how confused I felt. After sharing a laugh or two, Sina informed me that it takes 1-2 business days for the application and approval process to be finalized. I’m glad her answer was realistic and straight to the point. I left her a positive survey post phone call. And I’m going to leave one here, too. P.S. As of 10/7/25, it is a tad bit difficult to find the link for the next steps in creating a username and password for your account. It took me some digging, and talking with Ron, another customer service agent. It’s one of those small hyperlinks that’s underlined, but it’s not obvious. And it’s found in one of the emails they send you. I think you get 2-3 emails after the account has been approved. And as a tip, $100 is the bare minimum deposit amount for opening an account. Just deposit that much. Refrain from depositing more until everything’s established, you get your card in the mail and activate it. Takes 7 business days from the day you open your account to get the debit card in the mail. Had to jump through a few hoops but now I’ve made it!

The tellers at this co-op branch act like they’ve never seen a check “for deposit only” before. If you are looking for a bank that actually respects your time and makes your money accessible, look elsewhere. The "convenience" of their shared branching network is a myth. Matthew 15:8
