I was in Kahului a couple weeks ago getting a teeth cleaning at the dentist which is next door to Maui County Federal Credit Union. I went in and the woman at the desk just to the left of the door gave me someone's card and said to call the number and set up and appointment if you are a new customer. My reason for going in there initially was to inquire about CD rates. The rate she quoted sounded great so I took the card and called the number. Two weeks later, playing phone tag. My biggest pet peeve is businesses and especially local banks that don't answer their phone(s). So I tried today and called the main number and the automated system said that I was caller number two, then it went to one, then I was next in line it says to speak to someone and then not the case, it transferred me again, went through another automated list and put me on hold. After :20 minutes I gave up. All I can say is if you are a NEW customer like I am, good luck getting a hold of someone.

Customer service has tanked and so has the accessibility to contact someone locally that CAN access your account to assist.

MCFCU has finally upped their game and gone digital, somewhat. Add a star! MOBILE APP: This is what I've been waiting for! Account-to-account transfers, up-to-date account information (for balancing) and mobile deposits. Of course I have a few complaints. One of them is that some cleared checks don't have an image of the check, a very useful feature should you forget who the check was for (or wasn't told by your spouse who is was for). Another err is the verbiage of automatically deducted items with their bundled abbreviations and words which can be very confusing. Sometimes the mobile deposit can be ornery, resulting in multiple, frustrating attempts. Aside from those quirks it works fine. CHECKING ACCOUNT: Yes, we still rock personal checks! The main reason for me is that I don't like automatic deductions for bill payments. If businesses don't offer online payment, you'll be getting a personal check from me, all while supporting the USPS. Unlike at my traditional bank, reordering checks couldn't be done online but via phone automation which was surprisingly efficient. But, should you need to make any changes, you'd have to speak to a live person at Harland-Clarke. SERVICE: No matter if I call or present in-person, everyone has been awesome. I always experience a very personalized style of service. TIP: No-fee ATM withdrawals can also be made at First Hawaiian Bank locations (limited per month). OVERALL: While some requests still need to be done in-person for security and signature's sake, they're on a positive roll.

Nice people at the actual branches but their app and automated phone needs a MAJOR overhaul. So you need to enter your passcode to make a loan payment which I forgot (OK, that’s my side of the blame. But its just a password reset. should be a simple fix, right?) On two separate occasions, I have tried to reset my password. The reset password button on the website never works (doesn’t send email) so you have to call them, which doesn’t take you directly to anyone on island, instead to a call center. The people at the call center have twice suggested a way to reset my password that doesn’t work, so I am then they refer me to someone on island at the bank who calls back in a short 1-2 business days! This has turned what should be a simple password reset into AT LEAST a TWO DAY affair. But the very worst part of it all is that each time you call them, you are REQUIRED to wait almost two minutes of listening to menus that are unskippable. TL;DR Terrible phone system and inability to reset a password without a song and dance earn the 1 star

I went in to try to open an account and got funny looks. Then when acquiring about account types I was told to go look online and see the account types and go from there. I left immediately this has been one of my rudest encounter in the island.
