Headline: Dangerous Incompetence – Put a Life at Risk This is the most incompetent police department I have ever dealt with. They do not listen, they misquote you, and they provide zero actual help. If you call for a crisis, expect to get the run-around and be redirected to voicemail after voicemail. Most disturbingly, during a mental health crisis involving my suicidal son, these officers showed a total lack of judgment and "duty to care." They forced us to hand a bottle of medication back to a person in active crisis—essentially handing someone the means to potentially OD because of a technicality. They chose "property rules" over saving a life. The community would literally be safer if this station was shut down. They are a liability to the people they are supposed to protect. If you have a loved one in a mental health crisis, do not trust this department to keep them safe.

I love my city but the people work for HAS to do better. You all are rude when answering phones or questions. There is no friendliness in your voice like you like your job. You all don’t like to help. It’s like we are punished for your misery. Do better for real. This is supposed to be a loving community not a prison.

If they had a 0 star i would. Had a run in with a cop today trying to let him know that there was a semi truck driving all over the road and almost hit me serval times and going thru 3 stop lights. Pull up to him get out nice and calm and he yells at me stay right there do not walk up on me. Very rude and aggressive. Not a good explain to put out there as a police officer for Gary Police. Wonder why no one wants to open up or like them. There actions like this is reason why people dont have respect for cops.

I called the Records Department for information about a Police Report and both instances the staff were extremely rude, unprofessional and unhelpful on the phone for no reason. I strongly recommend more training in professional customer service. If I could find somewhere to email their supervisors, I would gladly do that as well if this is how the public is being treated. Reading the other reviews, this seems to be the standard for Gary's Records Department. Very sad to see that.

I don't know why I chose this location, but I went in for fingerprints and Ms. Jones in the Records Division was low key rude. She looked at you like YOU were crazy and had no sense of customer service. Everyone that stepped to the window was immediately requested to pay the respected fees quickly. All I heard was, "That'll be $50. That'll be $15. You gotta pay. Go sit down!" Yikes. Please learn to treat citizens respectfully regardless of who you are used to dealing with in the past. We don't mean any harm. Thank you Corporal Sean Jackson for all your help and kindness!
