Have been treated poorly by most staff members I’ve encountered. Tone, snide remarks, and absolutely no desire to keep customers. Tellers just sit behind their booths and act disgusted and inconvenienced when their scrolling is interrupted by their job with the potential to lead them to a career if they gave enough of a (redacted). The building is merely a decoration, the employees unquestionably unqualified, and lackluster. My question is why are the faces of the company like this? Who is letting them continue this? I go Afena ONLY to use their OUTSIDE atm .

I am deeply disappointed with the customer service provided by Afena, which has been nothing short of unacceptable. Since shortly after Easter, multiple attempts have been made to address the ongoing issue with the ATM located inside the General Motors facility. Despite repeated calls and communications, including escalation to the company president, who was only recently informed of the situation, the ATM remains inoperative as of mid-August 2025. Afena’s response has been consistently inadequate, with excuses centered around issues with AT&T and an inability to schedule troubleshooting. Initially, we were assured the ATM would be repaired by June, yet over four months later, no progress has been made. This prolonged delay is unacceptable, particularly for a service critical to General Motors employees and customers. The lack of proactive measures, such as seeking an alternative provider to resolve the issue, demonstrates a disregard for customer needs. Leaving GM employees without access to a functional ATM for such an extended period is both frustrating and unprofessional. In 2025, it is unreasonable for a company to take over four months to address a critical service issue without clear communication or resolution. Afena’s failure to deliver on promises and their apparent lack of urgency have significantly eroded trust. I strongly urge Afena to prioritize this matter, improve communication with affected customers, and take immediate action to restore service. Until meaningful steps are taken, I cannot recommend their services. Sincerely, Your Major Customers

Definitely not the place to get a loan, car credit anything! I've been banking through Afena since I've been in high school I'm now in my 30s and recently got a car loan through them. I've had some financial struggles and have told them anytime my payment might be late or to atleast try to inform them and make payment arrangements. Every single time I don't pay by the first they lock my card, and have to call someone when I come in to get money out of my account. A few weeks ago they said they couldn't "give me my money" since I was 1 month behind while paying off a credit card through them & a fast cash loan. They get a lump sum of $ every month but it's still not enough. Even more recently they wouldn't cash an outside check due to me being 1 month behind. They're fine if you don't get anything from them but the second you do better hope nothing happens to where you'll miss a payment because they are rude and act like they will not help if struggle cuz for more than a month.

Afena DESTROYED my Credit Rating! My rating was 741, now it is nothing because of an Afena credit card. I paid my balance at the end of every month. July 20 I received a text about fraud on my card. I verified that, they closed that card and sent me another. About ten days later l got that card and had it about 2 days before I got another fraud alert on a card I had never seen. I talked to a woman at the number that was provided on that text. She said, not only was that card never mailed, it had not even been released. That card was charged to the limit before it left their system. She said when a card is closed, another is automatically generated. I told her NOT to send me another card. When I went to Afena to pay my legitimate balance, I had to stand in the middle of the lobby while a girl showed me some paper work with FOUR cards, one I had not yet heard of, and told me I owed thousands of dollars. I don't know how many cards are out there in my name! Afena has NEVER called me back when they said they would. When I go there they say they can't help me. I have NEVER been allowed to speak to the main Manager even after several requests. The Credit Companies say I am over-extended on credit cards and not paying them. I have no recourse but legal action, and I don't know if even that will ever restore my credit rating. I've been with Afena 30 years. I would never have believed they would do this to me, but they did. And they will do it to you. After 10 months in arbitration with FCUA, AFENA has acknowledged the error. They compensated me and removed negative credit information.

If you need a personal or car loan, this is the place! Great interest and phenomenal service. Recently I had a situation and no idea of where to turn. I went in to the Afena branch by Meijer store. There I talked to a really fantastic loan officer.Julie Storie was wonderful, and honestly worked hard for me and got me the help that I needed. I didn't think I would get it, but somehow I did!! I highly recommend AFENA for all your banking. I moved my checking, savings and now new loan all to Afena. And great customer service too. You can't go wrong with this Credit Union in Grant County.
