I'm becoming increasingly upset with the direction this "Credit Union" is going in. In the past, when they were still Des Moines Police Officers credit union they went out of their way to help you. You were more than a number, they didn't care about your credit score. They helped me get back on my feet when I never even asked for it. Fast foward to now and they will still try to help you, but only if you have a proper credit score. It doesn't feel the same, they are more like a US Bank or a Welks Fargo than a Credit Union. I have had a Holiday Line of Credit that I've had and paid bi-weekly since 2015. Never late, always came directly out of my check. They randomly discontinued that this year via mail on October 22nd when that money becomes available right at the beginning of November. I was told I'd have to reapply, and was subsequently denied because I was behind on a credit card account... which is now paid off by the way, in full. So needless to say that was embarrassing, and completely unnecessary considering the fact I've had that LOC for a decade. But hey, you're all about the members right? Tried to call today to make a simple travel notification for my debit card and I get told that they can't help with that and given a 1-800 number to call... I have always called the credit union to make a travel notification. Done this plenty of times over the years without issue... suddenly it's different. Just things that keep changing here and there, some little, some big that make Serve just feel like it's like any US Bank, Wells Fargo, or Bank of America location rather than one that truly wants to help it's members regardless of their credit. Sometimes we need a little help, everyones situation and story is different.

Serve Credit Union makes opening an account for kids fun! Our daughter was given a drawstring backpack, a big cat stuffed pillow, and some other fun extras. She also is part of the Blue Shoebox program. She looks forward to receiving her annual box in the mail. It is filled with different items each year and offers information in an interactive way for her to learn about banking and saving money.

I used to love the staff and have a friendly relationship with them. However trying to resolve an issue with Delaney turned into a very unpleasant experience. She has no problem being condescending and rude on the phone, however when I brought her the paperwork she requested she had no problem sitting in her office and ignoring me while using a front desk member of staff as a go between for communication. I wasn’t rude on the phone and did what was asked of me. I also didn’t realize it was okay to freeze peoples accounts at their own discretion. Delaney has always been a very unpleasant person to deal with and could use a refresher on people skills. I plan on leaving this institution as soon as possible.

I have been a member of this credit union for almost 40 years and customer service has decreased exponentially over time. It is absolutely impossible to get anyone physically on the phone. Each time I call I am directed to a call center and if I am lucky enough to reach the banks physical location I am promised a call back that never happens. There are constant tech errors that don't allow me transfer money between linked accounts and my auto pay (set up by the credit union for loans) is continually not working properly. THE WORST. Take you money somewhere that cares enough to staff to levels that allow for answering calls.

I absolutely love banking at Serve Credit Union (regardless of what the name is)! I have lived out of state for a few years now and primarily have to use the shared branch feature, but it is always a treat when I get to talk to someone from my home credit union. My issues are always handled quickly, professionally, and with a friendly attitude. I could move halfway around the world and would never give up my account here!
