My partner has been relying on this union for health coverage for going on 5 years now. There had never been a problem before, and he has worked at the same place the entire time. Now suddenly, almost everyone at the place of his employment has had their health insurance terminated and the person they are directed to for help is unreachable (always sent to voicemail). We are paying out of pocket for medical costs for months now, and will likely have to fight for reimbursement. There have been no official messages or communication on a resolution for this issue, we have had to chase down information and beg the office not to transfer us to the voicemail of the unreachable person. I do not even know how something like this happens, and the lack of communication with union members who rely on this health coverage for their families is frightening. There have been no official messages or communications from Teamsters Local 355, and members were not even notified when their insurance was terminated - it caught us by surprise when a bill came back completely uncovered and I'm sure this is happening for others as well. Apparently, the employer misreported the hours of the employees to the union which made them all ineligible for health coverage. And they have been slowly working down the list, but it is absolutely ridiculous that this has been ongoing for months and people who pay their dues are going without medical coverage for their families!!!

My husband had a meeting with the Board of Directors to determine if his Termination would be taken to arbitration. He was told he would receive a letter or a call from his shop steward. This was in October. To date no letter or phone call. He had left numerous messages but the shop steward has bothered to return his calls.
