Lafayette FCU was recommended to me by a friend. I had some questions, so I called their 800 number and the gentleman I spoke to was knowledgeable and had answers for all of them. I am not local, but I was able to join by becoming a member of the HOFLC. Opening the account online was pretty straightforward. Once I opened the account, I applied for a personal line of credit. Lafayette FCU had some good options, which is why I opted to join this credit union. The application for credit products can be done online or in person. My online application went to Betty, and she handled everything from start to finish and made the process seamless. Within a few days, my account was open and visible in the app. I'm a new member, but based on the experience I've had so far, I would recommend this credit union. Many financial institutions have workers who can't answer basic questions about their policies or financial products—Lafayette FCU was different. Many banking product options. Knowledgeable staff. Quick and friendly service. Good banking app.

LFCU IS AN AWESOME CREDIT UNION. From the moment you walk in until the time you leave. I was able to securely consolidate my debt. All of my financial needs were met in a timely fashion. The communication from Mr. Alfredo made the transition possible because of his great communication skills. Thank you for everything LFCU.

A Wretched experience! This has been the worst banking experience I have ever had. After many many hours of acquiring documents over a 2 week period by my partner and myself this group thought it would be a good idea to have two new folks call me back that had no clue about what I had applied for and they were not familiar with my paperwork. We were crystal clear about our intentions with the line of credit that we were approved for from the start. The principle vice president of lending happens to be on a three way call and proceeds to tell me that I should not use the line of credit and it would not be a good conversation upon the year review with him. This is a conversation that I tried to have upon the first two phone calls with the first two guys and was assured that this was a good route to go with and everything was fine. Again, we had already been approved at this point and only had 3 questions. It appears that there are to many unqualified people that do not read the packets of information that are turned into this group for consideration. I’ll also add that the program that is used for uploading and status documentation is not maintained as my partner and I did not receive the same information and no explanation was ever given for that. In summary I could not of good conscience recommend this credit union to anyone and would steer people from wasting their time with them. This has been a total waste of time even though we were approved.

I have had a pool loan with Lafayette FCU for several years and have repeatedly asked them to apply my additional payment to principle. To this date they have not done so, they hold the additional till they can apply to a regular payment which defeats the purpose. They tell me nothing is wrong and refuse to escalate my call to a manager. No one answers, managers don't return calls overall poor customer service. Don't use this credit union.

Frances was the absolute best at helping me with an auto loan. I was working with multiple banks and credit unions and it was clear from the jump that Lafayette had the local feel and hand-holding that I needed. Frances responded to all of my emails and calls so quickly. She was the absolute nicest a person can be throughout the process. I want to be clear that NO ONE at Lafayette asked for me to write this review - I'm doing it because I had such a great experience and I want to tell everyone about it. As long as I live in this area, I'll never go anywhere else. Thank you Frances!
