Times are tough and you are dealing with people's money. I always thought what separated a credit union from a bank was actually having compassion and not seeing us as customers but members. But the customer service I received had 0 compassion or empathy when I was dealing with some distressing stuff. I understand my banker is not my therapist but in a challenging world, having compassion for the people that frequent your business is so important. I was completely dismissed and the person didnt even bother to truly understand my issue. The attitude was basically "oh well not my problem." I get when policies can't be changed but if you dont approach with empathy, you've truly got nothing. Been a loyal member for a long time. Really feeling disheartened by service lately.

I have banked with GFA for about 25 years. I'm sad to say I'm closing my accounts for a many of reasons. One is the the $15 undeliverable mail fee (that hit a lot of accounts). This was for my minor children accounts, because I'm I was dumb and only changed my address and should have had my children change theirs , because "they can articulate the need to change the address". "This is a justifiable charge". Another reason is the customer service I received a few times on the phone. I'm sure no one really cares about my review, but it makes me feel better to share my most recent experience that pushed me over the edge. It is sad to lose a customer over these "justifiable fees" that you can clearly see my name is on all these accounts and I had changed my address. Maybe I'm cutting off my nose to spite my face. But that is how upset I am. I have also heard that GFA like to take down some of the bad reviews so I made sure to screen shot my review so that if this happens I can take the next step.

The word bank I've ever had to go to so many times due to my location. They are slower than the DMV. Don't go here unless you want to lose hours of your life for a simple deposit. The customer service is horrible.

Everyone at the teller line was super friendly and inviting, and Kaitlyn, the manager made me feel extremely welcomed. Best experience I've ever had in a bank.

Been at GFA for over a decade. Have had multiple loans through the bank. Refiananced car. I moved 45 minutes away to sturbridge and stuck with them. Moved to Worcester and stuck with them. They were always great....until you needed them. For the first time in over 10 years I have had many medical issues and fell behind on bills. GFA just didnt care. Negative balance after negative balance because of the constant fees they would charge. I cannot tell you how many times my bank account literally went into the negative BECAUSE of their fees. And when I have complained to them, they went "oh we already gave you two fees back for something else earlier this year, thats all you get" and "before you leave make sure you pay back your overdraft first okay bye" In the end, this bank became like every other large bank when the time mattered. Credit union doesnt mean anything here. You are not a member, you are a person who the bank can make money off of. Move onto a bank that offers much better incentives for accounts like higher cash back, promotions for memebers, etc. This bank never offered anything like that either.
