What an absolute joke their loan department is…Between answering questions 2-3 times after filling out the credit application and them already having the information in front of them, to asking for documentation AFTER I was already approved, mind you NOT pre-approved, APPROVED, to not returning calls to the dealership I’m working with, only to be told I wasn’t approved after stating in an email that I was lol They’ll use the excuse “well the underwriters said…” and then when you ask for more detailed information you get the “I’m just doing what I’m told” line…If you’re reading this, save your time and frustration, there are other credit unions offering the same rates they are with WAY less hassle and BS. I applied to another credit union, approved instantly, same rate and term and finished my loan processing in 3 hours, got a check in hand…It’s almost like they don’t want to loan folks money, or they’re incompetent, I’m not sure which is worse.

My car broke down and they wouldn’t let me charge my phone in their lobby to get my tow. Great customer service… not. Edit following up the response: I’m not understanding how using an outlet is a security issue nor was that explained to me. I was just told it’s “policy.” How would I pull up the phone number for the tow company I previously called on a dead phone? Makes no sense. Emergent situations should be the exception to said “policy.” I am a young girl and could’ve been in danger very easily.

The lady I had today was super sweet and super nice. I had to drive an hour and a half to my nearest credit union for them for my car payment, but I had no problems. Got all my Questions answered, and the help that I needed. Thank you

I had a very disappointing experience with Michigan United Credit Union for an auto loan. I understand that the advertised interest rates on the auto loan page of the website are not guaranteed, even with an excellent credit score, as they are general information and not based on the customer’s profile. However, when the customer completes the application and the system provides an interest rate after a hard inquiry, I expect the rate to be guaranteed unless the customer's credit profile changes in the meantime. I filled out the application and received a great rate, even lower than the advertised rate, with a specified duration as shown in the attached image. Later, I called and spoke with the loan associate, who told me that my rate applies to 36-month loans and that rates for 84-month loans are higher. After I told them I had a screenshot of the rate and duration, the associate spoke with his manager, he told me that the 84-month rates are higher, as mentioned in the footnote. I explained that the footnote appears on the auto loan page for general advertised rates, not after completing the application, but he did not agree. So I decided to go with a more reliable lender, and I would definitely not recommend such an institution.
Weekdays 9am–4pm typically have the shortest wait times for new member inquiries.
