I have been with this Bank 14 years. I have two separate accounts with them and it’s quite a substantial amount. Over the years, their customer service has declined to the point that it’s pathetic. If you go to the branch, you are going to wait forever. If you try to get someone on the phone, you are going to wait forever and you’re lucky if you can get someone to actually speak to. Each time you go through their app you’ll get a response from a different person so you have to explain the situation over and over. I’m looking for a new Bank. They seem to be more focused on expanding their footprint and focusing on their customer service.

Over 25 years of membership, closing accounts. Service has gone so far backwards its unbelievable. Rates are no longer competitive versus other credit unions. With members all over the country you would think they would be increasing service center staff instead of layoffs. To get anything accomplished takes too long over the phone. Bye MSUFCU!

I have two accounts valued at a very high sum since 1996. When I call to speak to an agent I wait at least 45 minutes. They way this credit union treats it's long-term members is absolutely appalling. After 30 years I am moving my money.

I would strongly caution anyone considering banking here, especially if you share accounts with another person. During my divorce, the credit union froze a joint account at the request of the higher-earning spouse and refused to allow me access to funds—even though my name was on the account. I was the lower-income earner and needed access specifically to pay for legal representation, yet I was denied the ability to use money that legally belonged to me as a joint account holder. What’s most troubling is that there was no court order requiring the freeze at that time, and the institution showed no willingness to consider fairness, context, or the financial vulnerability of one party. Policies that allow one person to effectively cut the other off from shared funds can put customers in extremely difficult and unjust situations. In my experience, this institution did not act in a way that supports or protects all account holders equally. I would recommend others think carefully before trusting them with joint finances.

Absolute joke of a credit union. They play hardball to even open an account with and then you spend several years as a member to have them not be there when you need them. Good luck getting any loan or line of credit from them unless you have perfect credit because 3/4 of their loan "officers" don't care about anything but numbers even if you have phenomenal payment history. For every 4 loan specialists that you'll talk to you may find 1 that will actually listen like a human and grant you a loan but BEWARE, you can pay it off in full ahead of time and the next loan specialist will deny you a new one. With how stuck up this credit union has become there really isn't any perks for the average or rebuilding person to join them anymore. Most of their staff members are essentially robots, no care for their members or their well-being. Take your business to a small credit union or bank where you arent just a number on their list.
Weekdays 9am–4pm typically have the shortest wait times for new member inquiries.
