One Star Review This credit union is a complete embarrassment to what a financial institution should be. The staff at West Michigan Credit Union are not only rude and unprofessional, but also completely unhelpful and untrained. When I requested to close my account and credit card, I expected a proper closure form or an official letter on company letterhead for my records. Instead, they handed me a piece of scratch paper from their branded notepad and made me hand write a note saying “Please close account.” That is not documentation — Its something you use for a grocery list at home not a financial institution that handles people’s money. When I asked questions, the employees had poor attitudes and provided no clear answers or assistance. They acted like it was a burden to even deal with me, let alone process a standard account closure. It’s obvious the staff here are not properly trained, and they make zero effort to provide quality service or respect for members. On top of the lack of professionalism inside, the condition of the building and grounds matches the experience — rundown, neglected, and giving the appearance of a business that doesn’t care about its members or community. For anyone thinking about opening an account here, I strongly advise against it. You deserve a financial institution that takes your money — and your time — seriously, not one that gives notepads and calls it “official paperwork.” If I could rate zero stars, I would. This is not a place to trust with your finances.

AVOID!! Closing out accounts after 20 years of patience with their predatory fees and surprise gotchas. Not a good place to lend, borrow or do business. A real shame when a BANK is more transparent, reasonable and forthcoming than a member owned institution. AVOID!!

Not a great credit union. I applied for a loan and asked to speak with a manager because the loan officer was listening to what I wanted to accomplish and was instead trying to push me into a mortgage product. No one ever called me back and I found a different credit union that actually listened and worked with me. I have started switching my accounts over to Farmers Credit union and am very happy with them.

Shout out to Julie O. For the time and patience in walking me through the details of a home equity loan! Their knowledge of the process and willingness to find answers to my long list of question was greatly appreciated.
