While the people here are very nice, I do NOT recommend getting a loan from CECU. I purchased a vehicle, after having extensive conversations with my loan officer, and she ensured me that we were all good to go and to call her when the sale was made, and the credit union was open. When I gave her the details of my purchase, she informed me that CECU could NOT in fact cover the entire amount of my purchase with my auto loan, since the Blue Book value estimated the car to be worth less than I had paid. This had NEVER come up in conversation before, and the CARFAX report indicated that my purchase was a good deal. I had no idea that I needed to compare the purchase price to the Blue Book value in order to get the full amount covered, and I am now not only feeling completely taken advantage of by the dealership, but also by the credit union. I had to take out a second line of credit with a significantly higher interest rate to cover the remainder of the amount and am now paying more than I had budgeted for. Again, I had multiple conversations with my loan officer and was never warned that this could be the case. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I haven’t been an MDC employee for years but I can tell you that being able to get a membership here was one of the best things that came out of it. I have financed several emergency home repairs and services through them, personal loans and a vehicle. I had to request a refund to an extended vehicle warranty when I did a trade in. I’ve had a couple of cards either get destroyed or expire. What I’m getting at is I’ve run the courses on all the things that banks are always screwing up, but this institution has always gotten it right. The people there are always extremely nice and genuinely want to help you. They’re very cautious about extending a lot of credit-it is a small credit union. But if you start small and honor your agreements with them, your credit with them will grow. It stinks having to do transactions through co-op shared branches since I don’t live in Jeff City, but I will remain a member here for life so long as they continue to treat us like they always have. If you’re an MDC employee, used to be, or have an immediate family member (not sure about which relationships qualify), I strongly recommend you do your banking with them.

My husband and I have been CECU members for years. The service is impeccable. CECU staff members are always friendly, always helpful, always going out of their way to do more!

This has been the worst experience I've ever had with ANY banking institution. They have haughty, contemptuous employees with zero customer service skills. The loan terms are great but the customer service and unprofessional behavior of multiple employees has been unacceptable.
