I've been with this credit union since I lived in Maplewood, almost a decade ago. They have excellent customer service and services. They have always been attentive and made it as convenient as they can to assist me regardless of what challenges I have encountered. The staff has changed some over the years but each person there is courteous and helpful. I am blessed that this organization has been a financial partner of mine for over ten years!

I have a percentage of my direct deposit going into my account. However, the percentages did not take properly so a large portion of my check was not deposited. Fast forward...I go to the credit union to cash my remaining balance in the form of a paper check. First rep, "I'll have that right out for you." Second rep comes to the window (this is all drive-thru), "Is this a payroll check?" My reply is yes. Third, and final rep, "do you have the check stub?" My reply is yes. I send the stub. Minutes go by before I'm told there would be a 5 day hold, as I don't have direct deposit, to which I corrected them on giving them the date of the initial deposit from my company. Then one of the reps directed me to US Bank where they would cash it for me. Here's the problem, if I'm going to US Bank what are you good for? Secondly, you didn't do your diligence before coming back and giving me an invalid reason for not cashing my check, and placing a hold. Third, you just cashed a payroll check for me on Saturday, August 3rd (I came inside) from an employer I no longer work for, and have never had setup on direct deposit with you. I also didn't have or provide you with a payroll stub. I'm alright with policies. This was clearly a human decision not to cash my check. I've been with this credit union close to a decade. It's always something, whether it's been misinformation about loans, not effectively communicating what's available to members, or not cashing a check based on your human discretion. By the way, I was attempting to deposit half of the check so not even cashing the full value. Do better, and get a consistent policy regarding check cashing, at least please. Thanks.

I had been wanting to open an account at this credit union for several years, ever since doing private hospice care with a man who banked at this place. Their slogan is, “You take care of us, let us take care of you,” but nothing could be further from the truth. In the month and a half I banked there the management told me twice that I could be a criminal for all they knew. Once was when my mother signed a check over to me that was for me but her friend made out to her. I understand that they might need to place an extra hold on the funds but they wanted my mother, who works and lives closer to the other branch in St. Peter’s to come to the Richmond Heights branch to verify that she actually did sign the check over to me. The manager told me I could have found the check in the sidewalk and signed it over to myself. I work in healthcare, I care for elderly people with Alzheimer’s disease, I get background checked every 90 days, I’m not going to risk my nursing license and livelihood over a check. Plus if I did “steal” the check I would have to be a moron to deposit it into my account, with all my personal information being available to police if the check was indeed stolen. I advise against banking here, they do FAR from take care of you, it seemed to me they tried as hard as they could to make my life needlessly complicated. Stay away if you would like an easy banking experience. The tellers and non-management staff were nice though.

very disappointed with my experience today. I went in to deposit a check into my business account, and I knew this was a shared branch with Neighbors credit union, of which I am a member. Knowing this, I made sure to have my account number, ID, and anything they may need. For some reason they could not pull up my account. They could pull my personal information, but not my account. I even had a copy of a check draft with matching account numbers on my phone and a copy of the check so I don't understand what the deal was. I've worked in banking, and this is the first time i've ever heard of not being able to pull up an account when this much information was provided. The teller was nice, and tried to call for help, but I guess whoever she called was too busy to actually come assist in person. If that's the case, they need more staff. all around bad.

I’ve been with the Credit Union since 2010 and I’ve found the teller staff and business managers to be knowledgeable, friendly and professional. One of the many great things about banking with a home town Credit Union is “everyone knows your name”, so to say. I’m greeted at the door and always wished a good day upon leaving. I’m proud to be a HCFCU member.
