Volt Credit Union in Springfield is awesome. Their checking accounts are easy to use, the staff is super friendly, and everything feels simple, not stressful like big banks. I’ve used Volt for an auto loan and worked with them on a mortgage, and both experiences were smooth and fast with great rates. They actually take the time to explain things and make sure you’re comfortable with every step. If you’re looking for a local credit union in Springfield for checking accounts, auto loans, or mortgages, Volt Credit Union is the place to go.

Update 11/19/25: The VP of lending did not have a conversation with us that is another lie. However, she did leave a voicemail harassing my wife about this factual review of events that I left and she did not have anything to do with because she was at work. The review isn't even in her name its in mine. We applied for a personal loan after finding out Volt works with the Teamsters union I've been part of for 6+ years and receiving multiple offers from Volt through the mail. We've done everything they asked, provided all the necessary documentation, and then some. We were offered a lower amount than we originally applied for, which was okay with us. So, we asked to continue with the lower amount as we had medical bills coming up, which was the reason for applying to begin with, and had already been waiting for a couple of weeks. We were told there were no issues with this, but we'd have to wait the weekend for underwriting to be able to finish up the paperwork. After waiting all weekend again, we received a phone call Monday afternoon from the same person who told us everything was fine Friday evening to inform us they've decided not to work with us at all. Having someone you knew was experiencing medical issues jump through all these unnecessary hoops and then basically lie to them is wrong we could have had several more days to make arrangements had Kendra (the branch manager) not made an apparently fake offer to us. Why do this to someone especially a member of the community you work for?!

I recently went inside the Republic branch to compete a transaction and everyone there was so helpful. Kimberlin introduced me to the ITM and showed me how to use it. This was such an easy and stress-free process. The ITM's are going to be so convenient for future use!

Love this place! I was struggling with car issues and VOLT gave me a loan to help fix it and then it quit shortly after and I was able to get auto loan through them. The whole process was painless and the staff is super friendly!

They allowed a known scammer into my checking account. Information was available both online and with the better Business Bureau. Closed my account. Got a check back from the scammer. Volt refused to cash the check and refused to give me an explanation. I indicated I would wait for the money until the check cleared. They refused. Offered opening up a new account long enough to see if the checked would cash. They refused. Offered to keep the new account open. They refused. Went to Walmart whom I have no accounts of any type with and they cashed the check. But the credit union I have doing business with for decades and allowed the scammer in won't?
Weekdays 9am–4pm typically have the shortest wait times for new member inquiries.
