I wanted to walk in and finish opening up my account that I had started online. The teller took my information and told me that I couldn't do that today because they were all booked up. Had I known I needed an appointment to walk in and hand my money over to a bank, I would have gladly made one. None of this was explained to me in the process, unfortunately even in store. They've survived this long without my accounts, they can continue to do so with their lack of explanation and professionalism. ***less than an hour later, I have new accounts at a bank that wanted my business🥳

Avoid this credit union: staff are great, but corporate fees, spam, and mismanagement make it not worth your time. The only reason this review even gets one star is because of the clerks and staff. Every person I’ve dealt with has been professional, friendly, and genuinely helpful. They are doing everything they can with what they’re given, and they deserve credit. Unfortunately, they are let down by the system they work for — and the problems here are serious enough that I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before banking with this credit union. The location itself is average at best, and what should have been a straightforward remodel turned into a drawn-out headache. Corporate clearly cut corners on funding, causing the construction to drag on far longer than necessary. A higher investment could have shortened the timeline significantly, but instead, customers were forced to deal with the inconvenience for months. That’s on corporate, not the staff — but we, the customers, paid the price. The bigger issue, though, is the way this credit union handles mail. I have everything set to paperless and unsubscribed from every promotional option. Yet at least twice a month, I still receive spam. It’s never anything important — only ads for car insurance, savings accounts, and credit cards I don’t want. I’ve spoken with clerks, supervisors, and helpline staff repeatedly. Every time, I was assured it would stop. Every time, it continues. It gets worse. My address does not accept spam mail, so when these letters are returned, the credit union charges me a $5 USPS “dispute fee.” These charges are illegitimate. They are not the result of any mistake on my part; they are the direct result of corporate sending mail I opted out of. Instead of fixing the problem, they shift the cost onto the customer. This isn’t a one-time glitch. This is a pattern, and it shows where the credit union’s priorities lie. They are more concerned with pushing ads and squeezing fees out of members than respecting preferences or honoring their own paperless policies. Friendly clerks can only do so much when corporate policies actively work against the customer. Any benefit of using this credit union — lower rates, member services, or convenience — is completely wiped out by pointless fees and mismanagement. The staff are great, but the system is broken, and corporate clearly doesn’t care. Until they start respecting members and fixing these issues at the source, I cannot recommend this credit union to anyone.

Don’t use the atm for deposits. I did, and I’m missing $200. The bank says they balance on their end. Well I doesn’t on my end.

I am not a member of Great Basin Federal Credit Union, but on July 19, 2025, I visited their branch to complete a transaction that is typically not allowed for non-members. Rather than giving me a quick “no,” Mrs. Taunya took the time to look for a way to make it happen. She explained that if I could contact my credit union and have them verify that the funds were available, she would be able to move forward with the transaction. What stood out to me was her mindset of finding a solution instead of shutting the door. She did not just follow the rulebook without thought; she explored options within policy that could work for both of us. That kind of professionalism and genuine desire to assist is rare and deserves to be recognized. Mrs. Taunya, thank you for your willingness to help and for representing your credit union with such integrity and care. You embody the true spirit of the credit union philosophy of service and community. For anyone seeking outstanding service, I highly recommend visiting Mrs. Taunya. She delivers an experience that goes beyond expectations and leaves you feeling valued. I also encourage the leadership at Great Basin Federal Credit Union to recognize and celebrate the exceptional level of service she provides. Employees like her are the reason members and visitors alike have a positive experience with your credit union.
