I called about an issue I had with my insurance company. Not to get into details, but left my account in the negatives. After speaking to my insurance company (the nicest customer service representative helped me) and the insurance company explaining to me everything that will be done. I asked about how long does it take to get my funds returned, she explained it depends on your bank. And that's where this problem started. I called this first Atlantic Bank to answer a very simple question. A woman picks up and I explained my situation over the phone. She puts me on hold. Comes back and goes I'm not really understanding what you want. So I explained again, and asked how long would the funds be returned. Her response was, you insurance has been paid, just because your account is in the negatives, doesn't mean a company is going to return the funds, she said this in the rudest, most condescending attitude voice. At this point I was already frustrated and quickly asked for a manager. She puts me on hold, comes back and says 3 days. I said okay, I still need to speak to a manager because your behavior, then I get cut off, and on hold for a manager. This is my SECOND time dealing with someone from this company who has the rudest attitude. The first time was in person at the Neptune branch. This time over the phone at the Eatontown branch. The fact that you have people with no customer service skills is crazy especially for a bank. She made me feel worse than I was already feeling. The situation was already handled by my insurance company, a simple question is all I needed from this bank. I didn't even need this bank to solve my problem, I just needed a question answered about how long it will take to get my funds returned. It's pretty disgusting to have people work in a customer service field without any compassion.

If I could give this place a negative I would. In January of THIS YEAR I closed out all of my accounts SO I THOUGHT! I received two emails today stating my closed account had a low balance. Turns out First Atlantic reopened my CLOSED account WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE! I believe that to be illegal/under unfair practices. Then when I went to call their call center, my phone just rang and no one answered. Deff use this credit union at your own risk.

***update**** image attached. The team reached out and returned $50 in "late fees" to make good. How they think buying me off with $50 is equitable to costing me the chance to buy my first house and deal with months of credit repair is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of how SHITTY this place is. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. *********** I want to go ahead and double down on the review from a few weeks ago from Grammy, and the ridiculous response from the business. It's EVIDENT the service from this "community" bank is HORRENDOUS. I am a customer since 2022 with my auto loan, never missed a payment. I had an issue with my May payment, rather than notify me, they reported me as late to the credit bureau. RIGHT AS I WAS TRYING TO BUY MY FIRST HOUSE. I only found out when I checked my credit and saw a 100+ point ding. Called them and made payments to get current immediately. Did they listen and try to help? Were they compassionate to a longstanding customer and MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY? NO. I went in person to their HQ. Spoke to a Laura who told me she would speak to management on my behalf. SHE NEVER REACHED OUT AGAIN. DON'T BANK HERE. DONT GET LOANS FROM HERE. THERE IS LITERALLY NO BENEFIT.

ZERO STARS They will force you to make your final payoff through mail, then NEVER CHECK THEIR MAIL. Load you up with late charges, then call you saying they found your check and won’t reimburse any of your late fees! Customer service is the WORST specifically Mellisa Paloti. Very convienient that after I’m forced to make the final payment over the phone (no one told me that was an option to begin with and there is a $20 fee to do so) that my check magically appears in the offices. I also caught the representative lying. First he said the check came in 2 weeks ago, then 10 seconds later said oh no 2 days ago. They will call and leave no voicemails and never give you any type of way to rectify any situations that THEY CAUSE. Worst bank I have ever dealt with. Also if you need to close your account you need a notarized letter mailed to them! HA they can’t even keep track of their mail.

0 stars for this company. Don't buy a car financed through them. They have no respect or consideration for their customers. After two late payments, they come and take your car without warning, and at night in the dark. Everything about them is terrible. If you do anything with them, especially at the Eatontown branch, you will definitely regret it. Friendly advice.
