GAF’s "Golden Pledge" warranty and "40-Point Factory Inspection" are nothing but tools to help their "premium" contractors close expensive deals. They sell you on peace of mind, but the reality is a scam. When GAF-certified "Master Elite" installer, the infamous DaBella, installed our roof 12 years ago, they blocked off existing vents, and replaced them with a GAF ridge vent, which they left almost 50% blocked, and neglected to open the baffles for adequate ventilation. We were surprised when a handyman revealed to us that our attic had become a steamy swamp with extensive mold collecting on the plywood! This no doubt affected those of my family with asthma and mold allergies over the past 12 years! Despite GAF’s "Exclusive 40-Point Inspection Of Your Finished Roof", they missed this very basic ventilation workmanship failure. I've had three roofing inspectors and experts look in the attic and they all said there was no way anyone ever inspected the attic, or they would have caught the ventilation issues! GAF used a ventilation and mold exclusion in the fine print of their warranty to make sure they can deny my claim. This policy ensures that, if any really expensive issues occur, they don't have to pay! When their supposedly elite contractors botch the job, and your home rots from the inside out, they just heartlessly deny your claim and happily leave you to pay the bills. To fix the issues is going to cost me more than I paid for the roof! I now need a new ridge vent (not blocked), opened up baffles, insulation replaced and fungicide treatment of all the plywood, let alone the cost of dehumidifier rental that I've already forked out. Don't trust the GAF warranty! They don't stand behind their "Master Elite" installers; they just provide the shiny warranty to help them overcharge you, with loopholes to shirk their responsibilities. I won't give any more of my business to this soulless company who, in my opinion, is only looking out for their bottom line. Next stop: BBB, Angies, TrustPilot, Yelp, Oregon CCB, Oregon DOJ...

No customer service. Called regarding bad gaf products. They don't care. Warranty on package says product will conform to gaf specs, if not they will provide replacement. Person I spoke with didn't know anything about that. The roofing had a bunch of deep creases in last 1/3 of roll.

GAF failed to respond TO THE MANY PROBLEMS caused by a roofing company fraudulently using certification by GAF to sell me a blow and go roof. .... Because of your horrible customer service I discovered better shingles by Malarkey along with Grace brand "ice and water protection" under the shingles elevates any tar shingle roof from 30 years to above 50+ years for less than an additional $3,000 for most roofs. ...GAF.... I hope millions of people check these facts out. If they do it will cost you hundreds of millions if not billions of $$$$. I hope people see this complaint and use it wisely.

We were talked into purchasing the GAF Golden pledge warranty when we replaced the roofs on our condo complex. We've had several leaks and issues since and GAF refuses to honor this warranty. They continue to ask for the same documentation over and over as a means to delay the process in hopes we go away. They denied our claim citing hurricane winds without even sending an inspector out or specifying how we were disqualified. These shingles are marketed to withstand up to a certain windspeed and we know for a fact those thresholds were not breached in our area. They refuse to share the so-called reports. As a contractor, we will NEVER use or recommend GAF again. The customer service is horrendous and borderline unethical.

Their partner quality control is terrible, and that’s only way they go to market, so when you get ghosted by chuck in truck with your ceiling staining by the minute remember should have listened! If contractor saying gaf certified RUN!
