First time homebuyer. I worked with Maria Ortiz to originate the home loan and couldn't be more pleased. She was professional, responsive and walked me through each step of the loan process. I would recommend any buyer work with Maria in the future.

Zia Credit Union has been the worst banking experience we have ever had. We have constant issues with this bank. Several months ago, my card was declined because they were having issues with their network. There were no public announcements about this or apologies. I had to physically go into the branch to find out what the issue was. Most recently, my boyfriend’s personal account was compromised. The baking representative said she would cancel his card and order him a new one. Almost a month later and still no card, so he calls them. They say that they will order him a new card since they didn’t order one for him when they said they would. It turns out that now, they canceled his card for our joint account instead of ordering a new card for his personal account, so now he is unable to access money in either account and is stuck using his credit card. These are only two examples of issues we’ve had in the past four years we’ve been members. Not being able to access money is the last straw for us.

Zia offers the Kasasa checking account, which has some nice incentives. However, I've been deeply disappointed and frustrated by how they respond to what I would call financial emergencies. When I lost my debit card, I couldn't get ahold of anyone who could freeze my account and send me a new one for 12 hours. There's no 24/7 hotline that I can call. I recently had the same experience when my credit card was denied. Did they make a mistake and freeze my account by accident? Did someone steal my number and I need a new card? I can't find out until tomorrow morning! It's totally unacceptable.

I always seem to have a problem with the branch in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Employees are usually really unprofessional. I usually try to avoid going to the branch in Los Alamos, unless I really have to and each time I have has been a bad experience for myself. I gave a 3 star because the Española branch has always been a great experience for me. Los Alamos can do a little better on customer service in my opinion. I understand we are tough times right now & no one wants to work but that’s not an excuse to treat customers poorly. Hopefully the customer service will improve in Los Alamos!.

Zia CU has always been wonderful. Myself and many members of my family have accounts with Zia and they have always been very helpful and prompt in assisting us. I have banked with DNCU, BofA, and Wells Fargo and in my opinion Zia has been the best and that is why we have maintained a banking relationship with them and cut ties with all the others.
