I have never had such a frustrating and unacceptable banking experience as I’ve had with MCU. Both locations in New York City are consistently overcrowded, with outrageously long wait times that show a complete disregard for their customer’s time. It feels chaotic, disorganized, and understaffed. No one should have to rearrange their entire day just to complete a banking transaction. This level of inefficiency is unacceptable for a “credit union” that is supposed to serve its members. Members deserve better service and far more respect than what is currently being provided.

My wife and me visited the e MCU Co-op city branch this morning to conducted a very lengthy transaction. We went to Teller service and it was an amazing experience. We were treated with true professionalism and great hospitality. Our Cash teller was Kim . She was very pleasant and very patient with us. She ensured all our questions and concerns were met and answered with profound professionalism . Kim, if you’re reading this just know that you are awesome. Keep doing the wonderful work that you displayed with us and the clients before us.

I had a great experience with Sharon Hinds She were incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. I never felt rushed, and she made sure all my questions were answered. Customer service like this really makes a differenc she made sure everything was handled correctly. I highly recommend this branch.

I had a MCU account wayyyyy back in the days somewhere around 2005, and back then doing business with them was horrible. I mainly used the location in my neighborhood, and there, staff was rude, it was always overly crowded, and they were disorganized. I would dread having to go in and do any banking with them. The reason I used them was because I was getting direct deposit and would receive my funds the night before pay day. Fast forward to now. I decided to re-establish my old account because I had been getting mail from MCU since closing my account 21 years ago. The main reason for me doing business with thema agian is because they have a high yield savings account that starts at over 3%. The branch is now a little more organized but there is still long wait times at both the customer service and teller windows. The staff are friendlier, and reopening the account went quickly and smoothly. I gave 3 stars mainly due to the wait time. I dont have an 1 hr plus to waste waiting to be serviced. They really need to higher more staff to help alleviate wait times. Also, to get a debit card I have to go BACK to the location which I am dreading having to do. An honorable mention goes to the customer service I received via phone when opening a checking account. Although I was transferred to the wrong departments twice, staff wasn't rude and it was easy to open the account. But I still stick to my 3 star rating.
Weekdays 9am–4pm typically have the shortest wait times for new member inquiries.
