Alternatives is a very terrible bank. They don't answer their phones, ever. They lock your account if you pay a bill but let hackers use my card to make purchases in Texas. I've been on the phone over 2 hours to speak with a representative to replace my debit card. Still on hold. The moment I regain access to my funds I will be closing my account with Alternatives Federal Credit Union and doing my business with their competitor. Absolutely atrocious customer service.

Such a pathetic credit union!! It doesn’t even try to do better. What “bank” in today’s age doesn’t have card controls!!! You can’t turn your card off or on. Doesn’t have the basics. I believe they aren’t even going to attempt to get a better system even after many complaints. If I have a problem with an online order and do a charge back or dispute you have to get a whole new card. Very behind the times!!!

When you schedule an appointment and can't keep it or entirely miss it for any reason, let someone know, don't just let an automated email survey go out. You used to be my absolute go-to but now I don't have the confidence that you're even here to begin with considering no-shows.

I live pay check to pay check and I've gotten a car loan and a personal loan from this bank, both without issue. I haven't tried calling for customer service as other people complain about but going through the app I've gotten immediate responses. Theyve never made errors or done me wrong, and are a HUGE upgrade in every way from my experience with Tompkins trust in trumansburg. Night and day difference, and I'm thankful they exist.

I was trying to get a loan for a plane ticket to Seattle for my brothers funeral, and they gave me the run around for weeks until I missed his funeral, they knew was retired but I have a 20 hour a week job as well. They finally told me after having me run to social security a few times that l didn't have enough money to get a loan for one thousand dollars. Really after giving me a year to pay it back. That hurt my heart so much ; even after banking with you guys for 2 years . I'm going to pull my account from this bank asap. They are the worst. And I'm going to protest against them as well. If your own bank can't help you in your time of bereavement then who?
