I highly recommend banking elsewhere! Unfortunately, despite all my friends horror stories I was hesitant until they STOLE my sons money from his account for not being active for 3 years They took almost $4k without notice. They admitted their mistake on a recorded line and asked me to be patient in getting back. 2+ months later they denied it was their fault and told me to get it myself through the NYS comptroller office. Suddenly they came up with letters they said they mailed to an address I lived at 7 years ago! They said they did their part and they don’t need to call or email. Essentially, they DONT care about the customer. Other complaints, they can take your $$ but when you request more than $5k withdrawal they want a weeks notice! This credit union is a joke. Go to Mid Hudson Valley or TEG. Much better.

I have had HVCU since 1998 n also have had family members join and I have never had an issue. Sometimes customers take out their frustrations out on employees who are there to do there jobs n don't control the policies if the bank. Some people need patience. I've seen customers get out of character and it wasn't the tellers fault. Maybe a better approach and talking calmly would help.

The staff has no idea what they are doing other than being a teller. It took 9 months for someone to be able to explain to me about iras. By then it was too late to open a beneficiary ira. I got bad advice. Don't go here except to keep your money in the bank.

I am a customer of HVC(F)U since 1998 and used their services at several of their locations. Since my retirement I communicate by phone and online. In all these years I have had no complaint, neither regarding politeness nor competence. My only "negative" experience many years ago: I once stood in front of their door and read the note "closed because of snow forecast" (there was no snow). When I came back the next day (this time a few pretty snow flakes floating in the air but none on the ground) the bank was still closed "because of snow". The schools were not closed. To get to their branch I had to drive Taconic Parkway, the only potentially difficult road at wintertime.

The unprofessionalism of one of their staff members is unbelievable. Had an issue with my end of lease car pick up being one month late, that's In addition to their driver never showing up. I was told to call them and explain the situation. Midway during my explanation the representative cut me off and basically said….I don’t care, Get to the point, I just want to know when you’re sending in your payment! Zero help from their call center unless it’s regarding when you’ll be sending them money. In my opinion, Would not recommend!
