Never take a mortgage out. Definitely go through a private company. This bank loves taking peoples homes away from you.

I've been a loyal member of Teachers Federal Credit Union for the past 20 years. I’ve always appreciated how they valued their members, treating us more like partners rather than just customers. In fact, I even worked at Teachers for a while, so I know firsthand how the culture used to be. Unfortunately, the service has declined rapidly. The credit union now feels more like a traditional bank, where members are just customers, and it’s evident that they no longer prioritize member satisfaction. This review specifically addresses my experience with the Smithtown location, though the issues seem to be widespread. I run multiple businesses and maintain several accounts with Teachers because I've always tried to stay loyal. However, it’s become increasingly difficult to conduct business with them. The inconsistencies between branches are frustrating—one branch does things one way, while another does it completely differently. Whether it’s the way they handle check deposits, the length of time they hold funds, or the sheer understaffing, the experience has become extremely frustrating. You can no longer walk into the branch without an appointment, and when you're running a business, time is critical. Waiting a week for an appointment is simply unacceptable. Additionally, the prolonged check holds for businesses that rely on timely payments, especially when I’ve never had a check bounce, is unreasonable. I miss the old Teachers, where members were truly valued, and the service reflected that. I hope they can return to the culture that made them great in the first place.

The worst telephone service ever. Waited 30 minutes to actually get someone on the phone. Only to be told he had to get a loan officer to get into my account and put me on hold. Ten I get a message that the wait time is 40 minutes!!!! Still waiting for that manager to get on the phone. I am now over 1 and 1/2 hours on hold. Someone, please tell them to get AI to answer their customer service telephone line. This is ridiculous!!!!

Went to Nesconset branch to take out cash to pay my contractor for some home repairs. I was informed that I could only take $2000. Because the bank was low on cash. A Bank low on cash! SMH
