My daughter who lives out of state recently had occasion to wire $106 from her Chase account to my Northern account. Not only did her bank charge her a $25 outgoing wire fee, but, get ready for this, "my Northern" slapped me with a $22 incoming wire fee. Seriously? What could possibly justify these practices? It's nothing but a blatant money grab, They won't be "My Northern" for much longer.

I’ve stopped in to talk to someone about a business loan they asked I leave my number for someone to call and a couple days pass with no call, I call to speak to someone and they ask to leave a number again. I’ve banked with northern for years as my mother started my savings account when I was little little and I’ve banked with them religiously ever since and recently notice little things like this starting to add up! I guess it is time to pull everything from northern and use a bank that wants their members!

I walked into the branch today, maybe 1:30 pm. I had some cash in hand and a couple of checks for deposit. A young man met me at the door, asked what I wanted to do... he then directed me towards the e-teller machine in the back, I said I just wanted to make a simple deposit, "Can't I wait for this young lady here in the front to be finished with the person she's assisting...?". He said no, I needed to sign in at the kiosk (make an appointment). So after doing that (no option to select for "Make Deposit" at kiosk so he checked "Account Maintenance" for me) I waited for several minutes behind others who were waiting for loans/etc., I finally left and drove to the Commerce Park Dr. walked in to a live teller, made my deposit - done. If you're looking to do some simple, quick banking with a live in-person teller, this isn't your spot.

Can anyone explain why they take so long. Or help people standing and not the people that sign in and sit for a god awful amount of time in the waiting room? Update: the personnel ACTIVELY persuaded me to not open an account because they claim that I would have to wait too long and the 25 minutes that I had already waited wouldn't matter I would have to sign back in and reset my place in line absolutely will not recommend

I will never do anything with this bank again. They did my loan for my house and told me that they could underwrite VA Loans. It turns out they can't. I was locked in with a decent interest rate with Northern, and as a result of them lying about being able to write VA Loans, I had to go to a different bank and lock in a new and higher interest rate. (interest rates were going up at the time this occurred).
Weekdays 9am–4pm typically have the shortest wait times for new member inquiries.
