Very Disappointing Experience I had a very frustrating experience trying to open a savings and checking account at Welcome Federal Credit Union in Morrisville. I came in during Ramadan while fasting and was left standing at the reception desk for a long time while the teller tried to figure out basic policies. He repeatedly had to ask other staff members for answers, and even they seemed unsure about the procedures. At one point, he suggested that most people just open accounts online instead. When I asked if we could sit in a room to complete the process, I was told both rooms were unavailable, so I had to remain standing a very long time. Another staff member who briefly tried to help made a sarcastic comment when I mentioned I could bring my lease agreement as proof of residency. The interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional. To make things more confusing, my Permanent Resident Card was rejected as identification even though the credit union’s website indicates that it should be acceptable. In the end, they only opened a savings account and took the $20 membership deposit, but refused to open a check-in account. After spending a significant amount of time there, I was told I also cannot complete the process online anymore. The manager was not present, so I now have to return on Monday to try again. Overall, the experience felt very disorganized and unwelcoming. This was the first time I’ve encountered a financial institution that seemed to discourage someone from becoming a customer.

I stopped by today because I needed to use the shared branch services to withdraw some cash from my out of state credit union. Just a little more than my daily ATM limit will allow. I was also going to inquire about opening an account here. When I got to the front door and noticed the No Firearms sign. So I turned around and headed across town to Langley who doesn't have that stupid sign. PRO TIP: That sign will only stop law abiding citizens from entering. A criminal will simply ignore it.

JV team credit Union. Everybody else will pay me points, rewards, cash back, to open a credit card account, I have to pay a membership and open a savings account to join and get a credit card here. The best part? Credit card has no tap or chip function, so every transaction is swipe only,,, 1980s security technology that is hacked at every 3rd gas pump around. Weak. If only big pharma parent company GSK had a little bit of profit, they could provide members with a decent credit card, hmmm...

We have been with Welcome Federal Credit Union for 20 years. They have been great to help out when we have needed it. The staff are very nice and will go out of their way to answer your questions and to solve any issues. We love being members of WFCU.

Extremely Disappointing Customer Service Less than 1 star! I had a terrible experience at Welcome Federal Credit Union due to the unprofessional behavior of a teller named Diana. She was dismissive, unhelpful, and made no effort to assist me when I was trying to access my account. She kept insisting on a member number without explaining that it was the same as my account number—which I had to figure out on my own after repeatedly asking her to double-check or ask a coworker for help. Instead of trying to resolve the situation, she acted annoyed and even appeared to be laughing at me. There was zero effort on her part to go above and beyond, or even meet basic standards of customer service. It felt like she didn’t even understand the policies she was supposed to enforce. I left feeling frustrated, disrespected, and completely unsupported. I expect much better from any financial institution.
Weekdays 9am–4pm typically have the shortest wait times for new member inquiries.
