I have never had a bank get so stingy with my money (yes, it's a credit union, I know). I can't make a purchase over $1000. They get denied every time. I've asked them to remove the limits and it hasn't happened. Most recently I tried to make a double car payment and Softite denied it. Again, I've asked that they remove the limits on my transactions, and they refuse. How does anyone use their debit card to make a purchase of over $1k? It's almost as if I'm the first person who has ever tried. I've had numerous run ins with these people. If I needed a parent to tell me what I'm allowed to buy I'd just leave my money with my mom. This place is awful. I feel like, because I gave somebody a little grief over their policies, they're actively trying to annoy me.

Horrible place to do business, the staff is very rude. It is not like it used to be. It has gotten worse over the years they denied my daughter a loan And will not return her $25 for six months. Do not do business with this company.

I had asked about getting a duplicate card because I wasn't able to find mine. I explained I was moving and I was positive the card was in my house somewhere. The teller (Tammy, I believe) asked if I wanted to put a block on the card. I clearly said not to do that because I wouldn't have access to my money and I really needed easy access to my funds. I discovered later that day that she put the block on anyway and so I wasn't able to buy gas for my car. I ended up stranded on the side of the road for a while. For me with my health issues, that really could have been fatal. I just went to the bank to find out what happened. The teller said the card was blocked because I didn't have it in my possession. Tammy was there and said she told me she was required to block it. She did not. She phrased it as a question and not a statement. I'm in the middle of buying a house. As soon as the deal closes, I'm switching banks. Bank policy or not, she should have been a lot clearer and made sure I understood what was happening. She didn't. It was a pretty simple thing to do and she couldn't do it. If she can't handle basic communication, I absolutely don't trust her with my finances. This happened at the Martins Ferry office. When I told the tellers what happened, there was no apology. No attempt to take any ownership. Nothing. It was my fault, according to Tammy, because I didn't hear her. My hearing is fine. She didn't say she was going to block the card.

I have been using Softite for about a year now. They have been better than any bank that I have ever dealt with. I love all the perks too, especially the friendly staff that make me feel like family everytime I walk through the door.
