I had a great experience at 717 Credit Union thanks to Montana Terry. From the moment I walked in, she was welcoming and professional, and she took the time to understand what I needed instead of giving a generic answer. She explained everything clearly, helped me make the best choice, and handled the process efficiently. It’s rare to get customer service this solid — Montana is a big reason I’ll keep coming back and recommending 717 to others.

My parents are elderly and added me to their account at Seven Seventeen Credit Union so I could help manage their finances. The front desk staff was very friendly, but the back office staff gave me the runaround without any real resolution. I had professionally prepared Power of Attorney documents for both of my parents. When I first brought copies, they refused to accept them because they weren’t originals. I understood and made another trip with the originals—although no other institution has ever questioned copies before. After returning with the originals, they told me there was a process: they made copies, notarized them, and sent them for approval. Yes, approval. A few days later, I called to check the status and was told they did NOT approve them. Their reasoning? My mother is the primary on my dad’s POA and vice versa, and I’m the secondary on both. That makes absolutely no sense. These were professionally prepared POAs, and their decision didn’t pass the common-sense test. They remained firm, even though I’m already on my parents’ account. I then tried to pay off their car loan, but they said they couldn’t talk to me because I wasn’t on the loan—even though I’m on the account. Who goes to a bank to pay off a loan and gets told they can’t accept the payment? Their response was mind-boggling. I would NEVER recommend nor use this financial institution in the future. In the end, I paid off the loan by going to the Hubbard office with my parents. Elvis helped us and was incredibly helpful. The Warren office was useless and ineffective. Do not recommend this credit union. I’ve personally used USAA for 28 years, and this experience showed me why brick-and-mortar banks are dying.

Dan Schiavone is an absolute beast, super knowledgeable and very responsive! They need to promote this guy to president of the bank asap! Will definitely be using Dan in the future for all of my real estate needs.

I don’t know what they were thinking bringing in John Demmler as CEO. He is ruining our small town credit union. 717 needs to rethink this change, Gary was far superior. Time to find a new credit union

I have been a member for 41 yrs I have all my accounts, checking, savings, car loans, CC, etc. However I came in to apply for a home improvement loan, 717 was partnering with The City of Warren for a Grant program you had to live in one of 2 wards and I did, you had to live in a low to moderate census track I thought I did, the person who took my application asked for income, pay stubs to verify, ran my credit the sent the application up however there was a crucial step needed done 1st, see where I fall in the track, she claimed this was a new program they were just learning if she had done this we would have realized I make more than the income cap was set, but she ran it all anyways I got denied which shocked me my credit is very good, well come to find out after I called the 3rd Ward councilman and asked what gives and yes he said he has had several issues with 717 not pre-qualifying correctly so basically I fall out of the parameters of the Grant. Which I think is an Ethics violation they or she should have known right away when I told her my income then produced pay stubs. Then I would have had the choice to move forward or not without a credit check. Wasted my time and now I have an inquiry for no reason, All I got was an Oh "Im sorry this is a new program to us " in all my 41 years this is the worst experience yet
Weekdays 9am–4pm typically have the shortest wait times for new member inquiries.
