I was scrolling the reviews and noticed some negative reviews about customer service, I have banked here for 25 years and have never experienced bad customer service. I also worked at a bank before I started banking at Bessemer Credit Union and I would prefer a Credit Union over a Federal Bank any day.. All I can say is be nice to people and they will be nice to you!

This place is a JOKE. I have had an account there for 20+ years, but I closed the account because I moved out of the area. I have been going back and forth with them for over 2 months to just get a simple piece of paper on their letterhead that says that my account is closed and has been closed since whatever date. However, they are unwilling to provide that information. They can tell me that its closed. When I visited in person, they shredded the new card they sent me because the account is closed (even though they sent the card several weeks after I closed the account), but they can't take 2 minutes to type up a letter saying it is closed. What an absolute joke.

Whoever reads this from the bank will understand, I made my point. But I still stand that the customer service is some of the worst I've ever experienced.

I hope this review is read by all. I have had a different experience with B.C.U. I recently had to take over my mom's business due to illness . The very first day I met these people, I received a bit of resistance. They never met me and only knew my mom. I had the appropriate paperwork but they wanted more. I got them a call from my mom. These people really protect their members. When they were satisfied, they treated me great. They had noticed a change in my mom and her usual banking. They protected my mom. They offered me help on how to properly manage her money and her accounts. I have never been so impressed with a group of people actually doing what they advertise. Open an account, get to know everyone and you will have a real personal banker in your corner. They will help you with your plans no matter what they are. And remember, people, including you have bad days. Smile and thank them and it will go a long way. Thank you Bessemer. You are the real deal..

DO NOT BANK HERE. I really wish I could give less than 1-star. The “benefits” of banking with a credit union are 10000% not worth it. This is the absolute worst place I have ever been to. Words can’t even begin to describe how horrible their customer service is. Every visit, I’m treated with zero respect/courtesy. No one wants to help me. They look bothered when they see CUSTOMERS waiting in the lobby. We are not customers to them, we’re just a bothersome. For example, there are signs posted on the counter that say they can provide money orders, when I asked for one, I was told they don’t. So, I pressed and it turns out they DO, but it’s just a pain for them. I was lied to because they are too lazy to perform their JOB. That’s only scratching the surface! I need statements from them because I’m in the process of buying a home. Despite calling ahead of time, utilizing their terrible new online banking system, and speaking with three different tellers, no one can seem to help me get a statement for May 2019 because they updated their system in June. WHAT BANK DOESN’T KEEP THEIR RECORDS?! As soon as I possibly can, I am closing this account.
