Shelly was very unpleasant and unprofessional over a simple problem I needed fixed over the phone. She acted like I ruined her whole day because of it.

Completely honest review here: I will give them 4 stars because of a past issue with their previous banking app that actually lost me money. The lady promised me the issue would fix itself and it never did and I got annoyed so I ate the fee’s. Since they upgraded to the new banking system things seem to honestly be running a lot smoother. The banking app runs a lot better then the previous version and actually updates your balances fairly fast; verse waiting 3 days to a week to appear. I also enjoy being able to use the app whenever and not have to worry about it “shutting down” for all the reasons expressed to me about why the previous app would shut down. I do truly believe a lot of the workers (not all) here are friendly and usually are willing to help. But seriously thank you for the major banking upgrade!! Update 09/07/24 Yet again my account has been compromised. Bank hardly wanted to do anything like always. Try to use my card today and I can’t after they have told my thousands of times they updated my daily limit. This has been an ongoing issue with this bank. My bank account is always compromised. They say you have similar transactions in the past and each one is under $25. Not my fault I am disputing multiple fraudulent charges and you tell me there’s nothing you can do and to call the company. Finally call and and get snippy and they say they’ll take care of it. But here I am again with no way to use my other card. This is getting absolutely ridiculous.

I wish more than anything that Freedom United Federal Credit Union was located in Tennessee. My husband and I had to move due to a job relocation 14 years ago. Down here, customer service is lacking in just about any business... but it seems much worse in the banking business. I MISS the warm, friendly employees of Freedom. I don't have any idea what previous posters were talking about in their reviews because I have NEVER had a bad encounter with a Freedom Employee. EVER!!! And we've been banking with them for over 20 years. Even though we are in TN now, they still remember us and treat us like family. It is easy to check out a bank prior to doing business with them. Call them and see what their phone persona is like... go in to one of the branches and chat them up and see if you like their attitudes. I miss the down home friendliness..... BUT.... beyond that... check out what the bank OFFERS. They have a newsletter they send out that has all sorts of news and informative articles on it about what is going on at the credit union as well as the current rates and advice columns for all patrons. They have Special Children Accounts where they reach out and help children become savers and educated in financial transactions. They have contests and special events to gather together. I mean, what other banks do all this??? I'm sure I'm missing a lot of points too... The thing with reviews is that you cannot know what type of person is posting them or what THEY brought to the table to change their own experience. The best thing you can do is investigate yourself. I hope my post at least gives someone pause and gets them to check out Freedom. I highly doubt they will be disappointed! Signing my full name so you can investigate and see that I have no "dog in this race"... I am not an employee, nor am I married to one or have family members there. I just hate to see a business maligned when I think they are awesome! ;) ~Michelle Rausch from Memphis, TN

I've been dealing with the credit union for over 30 years now and am completely satisfied with the business relationship. There have over those years been one or two hiccups, but when I've voiced my concern with the Credit Union management, those issues were addressed or their policies clarified to my satisfaction. They never lose sight of whose money it is, and the relationship has never been anything other than professional.

First, let me quote from the Freedom UFCU's website --- "Freedom United FCU is a member-owned and operated financial organization. Each member is an OWNER, SAVER, and a potential BORROWER. Freedom United FCU is a non-profit financial organization formed under the concept of “People Helping People.”" My own experience and those of others whose reviews I read, obviously indicate that the only people being helped by this Credit Union is THEMSELVES. Can I rate them ZERO stars? Not only have I found some of their practices illicit, but the demeanor and candor of their workers has always been short, impersonal, unhelpful and unsympathetic. They convey a message that one should feel privileged to be a member. Nay! They've got it backwards. They should be grateful for their member's trust and business. Believe me, if you are looking for a friendly and GENUINELY helpful company for your banking needs, this is NOT the place. Take your business elsewhere and you will be much happier for it.
