I am a new member of Guthrie Credit Union. My wife and I moved to South Waverly on Aug. 20 to live with our son. Our son is Vice President of Surgical Services for all 6 of Guthrie hospitals. We moved here with our son from Virginia so that my wife can get the medical attention she needs. She had spine surgery in Virginia and ended up getting an infection in her bones while in the hospital in Virginia. It almost killed her. As a result of the infection, she is too weak to stand on her own, she's incontinent and she has developed more than normal Cognitive Impairment for a 76 yr old. So, I opened a money market account with the Credit Union but couldn't get my wife's name on the account because of her health and not being able to walk. I tried to deposit 2 checks that were made to my wife that were reimbursements after changes to our car insurance. Each check was for about $100 a total of about $200. Guthrie Credit Union refused to deposit them because they were made out to my wife. So, I asked them if I could take the form home for her to sign to get her name on our account. They said no, she has to come to sign the form. But that is impossible. The customer service gentleman who told me no they couldn't do those deposits wasn't friendly at all, in fact, he was rude and condescending. Since they don't want to be helpful in trying to get my wife's name on the account, I decided to close the account and withdraw our money from our money market account. Apparently they don't need any new accounts. My wife and I have been members of Navy Federal Credit Union for years but we wanted to open a money market account so we have some funds close to where we are living while she is healing. Navy Federal doesn't have any branches close around here, so we decided to open an additional account at Guthrie. Boy, what a mistake that was!! We will continue to deal with NFCU.

I opened my account at Guthrie in 2020. They were very nice about getting me a car loan as well as a personal loan. They have helped me when I was not working and was not able to make my payments on time. My only complaint with Guthrie is the glitches in the system that deplete my funds and take hours to return. I am about a year away from paying off my loans with them. Overall, I give them a 3 out of 5 stars.

I've been with the credit union since1991. I have lived out of the state since 1998. They are always prompt with each and every request whether it be by phone or email. This is the best credit union ever, though I would love for them to have Zelle in their system.

I really enjoy doing business with the Guthrie Community Credit Union. It is so user friendly, the staff is great in house and if you have any issues and call them on the phone they are extremely helpful. I'll never change!
