Avoid their credit card offerings. First, I and my wife had to go to our local branch to fill out loan initiation paperwork after I thought I'd completed the paperwork online. I have never had to do that with any card from any real bank (had various VISA, MC, AmEx, Discover since the 90s). Their online systems seems to be poorly integrated with whatever business/bank is actually managing the credit cards for them. Weird things like when you go to pay the credit card your *payment* shows up as a pending *charge* from "RIGHT TIME PAYMENT MIDDLETOWN RI". Right now at 11pm, a dozen or more of the "pending" items from a trip we just took have disappeared but do not yet appear on the list of completed transactions. And the PCU customer service representatives seem almost completely unable to help with anything related to these accounts, always telling you to call the number on the back of the card. The service at that number is not very good and is very slow. International currency conversion charges are identified only by some weird number. (At least that's what I think/hope they are... PCU reps couldn't tell me anything. When I saw the first of these for $0.37 from "x 124 0.XX6594" with a description "4 124 0.717626594", I thought our account had been compromised.) The extra 0.5% cash back (it's 1.5% any category/no limit vs. the more typical 1.0%) these past 9 months with this card as my primary spending platform has not at all been worth the hassle. It seems almost petulant to mention now that several years ago when I paid off a mortgage refinance (where PCU were handling tax/insurance through escrow), they neglected to tell the town; consequently I didn't get the tax bill... just a notice it was overdue. (Yay South Kingstown for being willing to waive the penalty.) Reading some other reviews, perhaps I'm lucky that 13 years ago they couldn't move fast enough to issue a car loan. But 20+ years ago we opened our checking account with them and it's been fine as a place to receive direct deposits and send out payments through their bill payer system. I do like the idea of credit unions vs. banks, but it seems like credit cards was an overreach for PCU. Oh, wait... there is one thing I appreciate about their credit card integration into their online banking: It is very easy to pay down the current balance on the card from, e.g., your checking account at any point in the billing cycle. Not that they actually credit the payment any faster than when I pay another credit card using bill-payer, but I do like the pay down option.

If u have a joint account with who's deceased they're not going to let u access it because they pretending that you need a trusty paperwork or executive Order paperwork and a $50 fee show u just because of a joint account it's not right which i don't understand about the paperwork just to access to the joint account the other banks let access the account with a death certificate who passed away all they do is making excuses so u can't access the joint account

Mostly good but they are upgrading their P2P payment system and STILL not adding Zellle! Zelle recently re organized their payment feature so that you have to go thru a bank and 2,500 institutions participate, large banks and small credit unions. For some reason People's is avoiding this industry standard but yet use the "industry standard" excuse when it comes to fees and other procedures. The P2P sucks! Seems that you can't send money over the weekend and money you send is not available immediately... like with Zelle! 😔 Money has been debited from.my account but still is not showing up

Had an auto loan coordinated by the car dealer with this branch. Staff is incompetent and cannot accurately report or record loan balances. Additionally, they make paying off the loan difficult without cause. Their phone and online payment systems failed to execute transactions on multiple occasions. They would not allow repayment amounts in excess of $5000. Would recommend avoiding for loan services. Operational systems are way behind their competitors and staff is poorly trained to handle basic repayment tasks.

We switched to PCU over 10 years ago, and have always been happy with their service. The majority of our banking is done online, we use their bill pay reminders and deposit checks online. The few times we've needed in-person service, it's been quick and helpful! Our car loan and line of credit were both with them, and we're not switching anytime soon.
