About to move to an apartment and I heard it's automatically $250 deposit yet now possibly 280!! Just to start service!! .. no explanation of what the deposit is for!.. just you pay it and get service.. I'm not from here so it's definitely different!! And 250!! In an apartment that should drop my move out and I should be cut a check!... but doubt they do that!!

My autopay for 5 years didn't go through because of a clerical error, and nobody contacted me directly they just brought a notice 3 days before they planned to shut my house off and didn't knock on my door or call me, they placed said notice on my garage door. It's as if they have no customer service or people skills. If another service existed I'd switch.

AUB sent a vegetation management crew to clear out trees around the power lines on my parents' property. After seeing the hideous result of their work, I decided to educate myself on the clearance requirements around sources of power to better understand what these vegetation workers were attempting to accomplish. They have zero care for conducting their work in a manner that is considerate and respectful of the properties they work alongside. They wiped out a 20 foot wide area of shrubs down to the ground. This area had more than enough clearance ground-up and side to side. The greenery is completely gone. A huge, muddy mess of brush was left behind which also clogged up the nearby culvert. Their tires dug deep treads and destroyed the yard. They cut ALL the branches off a tree down to the trunk, which was already 10+ feet away from the power pole before they cut it. They saw fit to cut branches that were 3 feet up from the ground down to the trunk. Why? It only needed the top trimmed out. They had no business touching the tree down that far. Unacceptable.

I recently completed a year of service with AUB as was expecting my account to be credited with my deposit as stated by AUB. When I called the first time I was told I had another two payments to make so I noted the date/time and person I spoke with. I payed two more months and still no credit. I called to ask the deal and was told again I had two more payments to make. When I told them I’d like a copy of payment history they only printed out 8 months worth of the history. When I pointed the out and had the whole document it showed I had 14 payments more than the required 12. Absolutely horrible customer service. The customer service rep actually wouldn’t come to the window after realizing the issue and had another person do all the talking for her. Would give 0 stars if it was an option

Their processes and policies are disgustingly terrible. I feel bad for the ladies who work for customer service. My tenants and I have had nothing but problems with AUB. AUB staff say that all utility companies have their processes (e.g., high deposits/fees to turn on utilities, standard charges merely leaving utilities on though they are not used, regressive policies and lack of warnings for leaks); however, of the five utility companies I deal with as a real estate investor, AUB is the only one using these regressive policies. EPB in Chattanooga is so much better and that's one reason I live and invest in Chattanooga and no longer live and invest in Athens. The only saving grace of AUB is that they employ local folks for their customer service. If only those folks new that in Chattanooga and many other cities, the utility customer service staff don't have to spend their days listening to frustrated and angry people.
