I joined First South a few months ago. They had a good rate for their Certificate Deposit (CD), so I moved my life savings. A week before the CD maturity, I stopped by and instructed the Assistant Manager of Jackson to renew the CD. Five weeks later, I visited and was informed they never renewed it. The rate is much lower and I get NOTHING for the five weeks they failed to follow my instructions. Cost me about $900 … Total incompetence, they said “I was not working the day it was supposed to renew”. Nobody cared to see about it. They still DON’T Care about Customers and Service. The Assistant Manager could have a teller spot, but NO.

I have been a member with First South for over 30 years and overall my experience with the bank, staff, and service reps have been good. Today was exceptional with Vice President, Shane Roe. My situation was concerning fraudulent activity, so I was somewhat panicked. Shane calmly dealt with the situation coming to a resolution and gave me the much needed knowledge necessary to calm me. Thank you Shane.

I have banked with them for a long time. They seem to always have some “policy” that you’re unaware of. Recently, I was charged a couple of overdraft fees WHILE I HAD the funds to cover the transactions. Which created a storm of overdrafts and more fees. When I asked for a refund, with cash in hand so that I could even up my balance, they denied it due to a policy. Instead of practicing good customer service they would rather take a fee or two doubling or tripling the amount of the original transaction. I’d never heard of this new policy. Charge me a fee if I don’t have the funds. That’s understandable. However, I had the money. I will be changing banks and letting others know how they treat customers.

I heard very good things about this credit union. So far in my last couple of days within opening an account I have had the worst experience. The whole reason I chose to join a credit union was to work on my credit when I open my account I was told I could get a fresh start loan where money was put in my savings and held and I make payments toward it every month. Then I told her I would call back a little later cause I had to tend to my child the next day I called the lady told me I was not eligible for the fresh start loan or credit card. She said that I couldn't have any collections on my credit which I don't have but one collection so this is ridiculous to me I have four other credit cards all with higher limits but one. And i have never ever had a late payment not even missed a payment I barely even leave balance.. Why would u have to have perfect credit for a fresh start. It makes no sense n defeats the purpose. I will be closing the accounts faster than I opened them people I don't see how they will help me build credit in any way. I will be going to another to credit union such as Orion where they have the benefits I am looking for!

Second time banking with First South. Should have learned my lesson the first time. Last summer I had 2 charges I didn't approve. Both were denied. They efused to give me my money back. Then February 20th I got a text for a fruad charge. Instantly responded wasn't me, called number to take to someone. Now it's March 26th and I'm still dealing with filling out this fruad form for the 9th time. I already said it was fruad. Talked to someone. And constantly wasting my time on having to fill out some stupid form. Most likely trying to wear me down where I'll stop fighting the fraud transaction. Bank of America takes my word for it and doesn't require me to fill out some fraud form. The transaction was for over $400. Not even my money. This account only has the little money that was left to my first born from the death of her grandmother. Once this is resolved I'll be closing my account. I've also reported to the BBB.
