If I could give zero stars I would. I will preface that I will take some credit for the issue but pretty awful on their part. Opened my 3 kids accounts with them as I already had one with them. Put all their birthday money and some money their recently deceased great grandma had left them. Since the branch closed down in my local area it made it about an hour drive to the next closest branch. They ended up sending a letter that account was dormant and started charging 15 dollars a month, on a child’s account. All of which I asked when I opened the account originally if they do and I was assured that does not happen here. That was a lie. Well to end it off, all the kids birthday money and last money from a distant relative is gone due to junk fees. No call informing, just a single letter stating it was dormant. Pretty pathetic on their part as they have SSN on file and their birthdays. Talk about a terrible business. Would never recommend banking from them if you expect any form of modern communication.

Member Services is awful. I've asked 4 times about the process for an unusual check situation and each time I've gotten a different increasingly more unhelpful answer. At this point I think they're just making things up because they have no idea. Don't bank here.

I have tried for 2 months to get a response back from the “collections” person who is responsible for items reported to credit agencies from this bank. A hard credit inquiry was placed on my record by this institution without my authorization in 2024 that has just surfaced and after a lengthy investigation process with Equifax, they tell me I must deal with this credit union direct, even though I am not a customer nor have ever or intended to conduct business with them. So many phone calls repeating my story over and over to agents. As a consumer this is very frustrating as you can imagine. The lack of customer service should sway anyone looking to conduct any banking business with this union to move elsewhere.

There are a few good employees remaining from the "old guard", but as a whole, this bank and the customer service provided, is absolute trash. No local bank who cares for their customers tells you they might take 72 hours to return your call... if they even call back at all. Two years ago you could just ask for who you needed and they'd be on the phone in moments. The Tennessee Credit Union was a good community bank. TennCu, as they now call themselves, is nothing but a corporate profit-driven dumpster fire. Once my dealings with them are complete, I will never bank there again.

TENCU IS A 10++++! Bethel Coleman, my financial advisor at TENCU, via LPL Financial, is ABSOLUTELY THE MOST BRILLIANT, COMPASSIONATE, PATIENT, EXPERT IN FIELD, financial advisor anywhere in this world! 30 minutes with her and my whole estate is planned, settled in my mind and on my stomach for those who can relate to someone single with no children and whose biggest desire is, when dies, loving brothers and nephews will NOT BE BURDENED but will easily be able to carry out my wishes as well as access, though not millions, all I want them to have! As a retired MNPS teacher, I have been with this bank, since 1973. I have grown with them through name changes but NO CHANGES IN THE WAY THEY HAVE CONSISTENTLY TREATED ME LIKE FAMILY AND LIKE I AM A MILLIONAIRE, WHICH OF COURSE I AM NOT! But it's our running joke, "Thank you for treating me like a millionaire!" MY FAMILY members have joined. My TN Teachers credit union, aka Educators Credit union, have gotten me through family deaths, home emergencies, car emergencies, every life cycle over past 5+ decades. I can name all the people who work on every level, from tellers to administrative, and loved them all. Today, Bethel Coleman, who is the greatest teacher, she imparts financial knowledge in a way anyone can understand, took me out of a bad tailspin. As another loved one has died, and their heirs are left STRESSED, CONFUSED; I ran to Bethel to make sure I'm in good shape as I always do. She is a Godsend!! I can't thank her enough! Nor, my TENCU FOR HAVING THE foresight. Desire to hire her. No financial institution, I don't care how big or fancy, could not be or have any better than Bethel! So, thank you TENCU and Bethel and long happy profitable lives to you all! Love,Rae
