1. I was planning to buy a car soon, so I decided to apply for auto loan pre-approvals with a few credit unions. I tried two online: Members Choice Credit Union (MCCU) and Community Resource Credit Union (CRCU). 2. MCCU’s process was very smooth and fast. I completed the online application and uploaded the optional documents in the morning. (Yes, if you don't want to upload the documents, you don't need to. The doucments will help you get detailed auto loan rates.) That same afternoon, a staff member called me and sent me an email, providing detailed information about the auto loan rates. They also told me I could call anytime if I had further questions. 3. CRCU’s process, on the other hand, was much more complicated and far more time consuming. To apply for an auto loan pre-approval, I first had to open an account with them. After opening the account, I was told that my documents were incomplete and needed to be re-uploaded, so I had to wait for another review. A few days passed with no updates, so I had to make a phone call and ask about my account. After several transfers over the phone, I was finally informed that my application had been approved (If I hadn’t made this phone call, who knows when I would have been informed about the approval)—but that I would need to visit a branch in person to proceed. At that point, I gave up. I only wanted to get a general idea of the auto loan rate. Why I have to open an account? I am not even sure if I want to use any service here. What could have been handled over the phone or online ended up becoming unnecessarily complicated and the whole process was slow and time comsuming.

Longtime member here. Ever since they outsourced their phone lines to a call center the member service has declined substantially. I’ve made multiple attempts to call for various reasons and it’s usually a 10 minute hold time just to speak with someone who isn’t even in a branch. More often than not they are unable to help me and have to transfer me to a branch. This starts the hold time over and isn’t guaranteed to actually get you someone in the branch. I just spent my entire lunch break trying to speak with a mortgage specialist. I was placed on hold for 10-15 minutes to speak with someone who couldn’t help me only to be transferred to a branch where I was placed on hold for another 10-15 minutes before I received an automated message saying nobody was available to help. This is becoming an issue because I work during their business hours, the nearest branch is 30 minutes away, and I shouldn’t have to take time off work to drive in to a branch in order to have a few simple questions answered.

Alexandra Garcia greeted us promptly. She explained CRCU to use and what type of accounts were available to us. It was a great first meet and we got the accounts set us very promptly. Thank you very much.

We have been with CRCU for a very long time, and have never had any problems. They are the Credit Union we use for all our banking. Thank you CRCU for all you do for us.

I was there to open a savings account, things were explained and getting it set up was easy. Financial Advisors were friendly and wait time was not unreasonable.
Weekdays 9am–4pm typically have the shortest wait times for new member inquiries.
