I took my mother to Wellby Financial in Clear Lake to update beneficiary information on some of her accounts. The visit lasted quite a long time, but the representative, Chris, was wonderful. He patiently answered our many questions and was very thorough making the many updates my mother wanted. We ended up working right through lunch time, but Chris never rushed or made us feel uncomfortable with the amount of time we were taking. We also appreciated the friendliness of the security guard and lobby staff who greeted us and opened doors, making it easy to navigate mom’s wheelchair. Very pleased with our visit.

Well, here’s a crazy story: I lost my card while traveling internationally, and of course, I called the bank to get some replacements. Well, one, two, three replacement cards later… They never arrived. Naturally I was upset with Wellby because as I figured, I could only assume that they simply didn’t send out the cards and we’re just ignoring my emergency situation. I mean, why else would three replacements just disappear or never arrive? Well, Sherlock Holmes twist: for some arcane reason or another, my replacements were mistakenly marked as merchandise or taxable by customs agents, and no one was notifying me until we started digging and asking questions. In fact, if Wellby hadn’t started calling to figure out what was going on, we probably would’ve never figured out that was the issue in the first place. It took almost 4 months but FINALLY it got resolved. Of course I now know that this wasn’t Wellby’s fault but a really horrible situation of a foreign customs service mistakenly holding up my replacement cards. So with that said I deleted my 1 star review and updated to reflect the truth of the whole matter. Wellby did what they could, and hopefully there isn’t a repeat of this should another member end up losing their card while traveling out of the country.

Debra Rucker, Personal Banker at the Gemini branch was extremely helpful with answering questions and helping us ensure our future banking needs would be taken care of. Very professional service. The atmosphere of the branch from the security guard, to the greeter and the banking staff were professional, friendly and engaging.

I am extremely disappointed with the experience I had with this bank. From start to finish, the entire process was unorganized and unprofessional. What should have been a simple and straightforward task, opening a basic checking account turned into a frustrating and unnecessarily complicated ordeal. Communication was unclear, staff appeared unprepared, and I was repeatedly given inconsistent information. Instead of feeling welcomed and supported as new customers, I felt like we were inconveniencing them. The lack of organization and professionalism made it difficult to trust that our finances would be handled properly. After dealing with these ongoing issues, I ultimately decided to cancel all of our relationships with this bank. I believe banking should be efficient, transparent, and customer-focused, and unfortunately, this institution did not meet even the most basic expectations. I would not recommend this bank to anyone looking for reliable and professional financial services.
