If I could do negative stars I would. The worst bank I have ever had to deal with and the customer service they have is horrendous. Go to any other bank besides this one. This last mistake THEY made that had me taking my whole day to fix was the last straw. I will never give this place another penny and I suggest that no one else does. There are a few good banks in Lufkin and this is definitely not one

We'd always been a 'cash family' trying to be financially responsible and not end up dealing with overdraft fees and accidental hot checks from miscalculations. Until we needed credit. We had absolutely NO credit at all which it turns out is just as bad actual 'bad credit'. Southland helped us figure out what type of loan would be best for our situation and now we have lenders sending offers daily. We even got approved for a home depot card and we get offers all the time now. We're still working on improving it but within years they've helped us go from no credit to fair credit. I would recommend them to anyone.

I came in today Feb12 2024 for a loan to get an RV trailer to live in with my VA education housing allowance because I can't afford anything else while going full time to school. They took all my information and have me drive to a different location to pull cash out for a savings account in order to try to get a loan and they didn't approve the loan and didn't give me all my money back, when I walked 2 miles to come close my account same day and they insisted that I was told that there is a $5 membership fee from their main manager of the location. Wasted my gas and time and took my money when I'm homeless trying to get what I can afford with good credit and a source of income. I would hope you don't make the same mistake and try to take out a loan if you don't already bank with them. They be hurting for that $5 that they can't give it back to a homeless veteran.

2 days before Christmas we lost everything including our car in a house fire. The employees of Southland scrambled to get us new cards, put our current loans on hold so no money would be withdrawn and reset all our login info for our accounts. When we couldn't secure housing they assisted with a signature loan so we could purchase a tiny house. They worked really fast when we found a car we liked and had us driving off in it the same day. 3 weeks later when we got into an accident and totaled that car they worked diligently to help us secure financing for another car. If you haven't been there I suggest you go as fast as you can. They treat you like family and always go above and beyond.

I really appreciate this bank. They are very helpful and understanding and they are willing to work with you on any problem you may have. Caycee in particular and Ms. Kathy are always there to lend a helping hand and Britney is also a godsend. The only thing I don't like is them saying what business you want to transact through the loudspeaker at the drive through. Sometimes it is so loud that I feel others can hear and that makes me slightly uncomfortable.
