switched to Langley FCU back in 2010 when I was making good money working as a software developer. I refinanced my home with them and their mortgage department was over-eager to get my business. I am retired now and want to sell my house and move to a rural area where taxes are 1/5th the cost of Hampton Roads area and home insurance is half the cost. I put in a request and email Langley FCU mortgage because I had questions about their underwriting before getting a preapproval. I applied for a home equity last year and their underwriters would only count my social security as income and did not count any of my passive income or my 401k withdrawals as income. Long story short, it seems since I have retired and not in the upper middle class income, they don't even want to bother talking to me. I sent emails and left phone messages and no response. I already have a preapproval through a mortgage company with no problem with their underwriters using my tax returns for my gross income. As soon as I find a house and get ready to move, I will be taking all my money out of LFCU and moving it to a financial institution that actually takes the time to address their customers needs. Bottom line: If you have lots of money and don't need a loan, LFCU will gladly take your money. If you are retired and working to move to a lower cost area without all the traffic, LFCU could care less about your needs.

Monique Ting is awesome! She is the epitome of excellent customer service. I went in to close a business account and open a regular checking and saving. She efficiently moved my money and joined my accounts without error or delay. She even followed up by e-mail as she said she would days later! I wish all bankers were this seamless.

Today I opened an account at Langley Bank, and Ciara Walker was the banker who assisted me. She was very knowledgeable, confident in her work, and handled everything in a highly professional manner. I truly appreciate her help and am very grateful for her excellent service.

I applied for an auto loan with this bank. The loan was never approved, which is fine. What’s not fine is how it was handled. The bank canceled the application without notifying me. No call, no email, no status update. I only found out after following up myself. After that, they had the nerve to ask to pull my credit report again, despite the fact that the application had already been canceled on their end. Auto loans are time-sensitive, and people rely on clear communication to make real financial decisions. Canceling an application without notice and then requesting another credit pull shows poor internal coordination and disregard for the customer’s credit. I would not recommend this bank if you value transparency, communication, or protecting your credit score.

Terrible customer service. They won’t sell you customer rolled coins upon request because the rolls “might be short”. I told them that’s fine, I don’t care if they might be short and they still refused. I even suggested they weigh them for accuracy as 99% of people would do to verify. Also asked what makes their rolls more accurate than customer rolls, suggesting how do they verify, and didn’t get an answer to that. This is the only Langley I’ve had this experience at. I go to LFCU’s all over Hampton roads and buy customer rolled coins every week.
