I am glad to be a Chartway member, and I am reminded of that every time I come here to make a deposit. This place is closer, so I occasionally come here to make deposits. The customer service compared to Chartway is practically non-existent. The man with glasses is very slow and antisocial; I can't say much about the others, as he typically services me. They were just standing around having a personal conversation in the front of the building until another customer walked in, which I find to be very unprofessional. They don't even greet you when you walk in, which is pretty awkward considering the strange door situation they have going on. I think treating your customers, members as criminals as soon as they walk in the door is undesirable and awkward, but I digress. I see why this place is always empty when I come, and my condolences to anyone who's a member of Northern Star Credit Union.

This Credit Union is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and should not be trusted with anyone’s money or future. READ MY FULL STORY AND SAVE YOURSELF!!! I had an auto loan through them and when COVID hit, I was put on furlough. After 6 weeks of receiving unemployment, it stopped coming in. I had no savings, or cash flow. I requested 6 times to have my loan payment extended or deferred, as per recommended by the US Government at that time; asking all banks and credit unions to allocate their customers to. I showed them my bank statements, letters from the unemployment commission, as well my furlough documents; proving there was no money to be given to them and showed them my grocery store receipts showing that I was living on ramen noodles. They denied every single request. Demanding my payments in full, while fully understanding there was no way to make payments. My car was repossessed and they stacked on an additional $3000 in legal and document fees without showing any proof of cost and/or break down, no matter how many times I requested. I was making payments for months, I was late with one payment and they took a levy payment of the full amount of 5 figures from my checking account. Like some sort of scare tactic. Overdrawing my account and not allowing me to pay my bills or feed my family since the account was horribly overdrawn. I’ve since re-arranged payments for them just to stack more unjustified fees and a criminal interest rate on top. They’re unforgiving, rude, heartless, and do not care about people and that life happens. They’re not flexible to work with people, no matter what the circumstances. I work in the automobile sales industry and every time I see a customer gets an approval from NSCU, I tell them my story and beg them to save themselves and go with someone else. It is no mystery they’ve had to shut down several locations over the years.

I'm just not having a very good experience. I regret getting myself in this long term car loan. Out of every car I have ever financed, this loan has given me so much anxiety. I have begged for more convenient payment options because I am exhausted of finding shared branches to make in person payments. It wasn't until I spoke with a different rep that sent me a direct payment form. Why not this option all along? These people are playing in my face. A loan thru NSCU feels like you sold your soul and signed the dotted line in your own blood. Save yourself the anxiety of these loan styles. It will crush your soul and hurt you to your core.

I have been a member since 2003 and this morning i went in person to apply for an auto loan. The Loan officer Mrs. Ford was very rude, she never asked me to the back to speak in private, instead I was forced to answer all personal questions in the lobby. After feeling like the bank was looking for a reason NOT to give me a loan, i was told Nstar doesn't give auto loans for vehicles over 10yrs old!!! this bank is the worst and they are very rude. I tired of the lack of respect to the members, take down the speaker phone at the front door it not a prison!!!!! WORST BANK EVER!!!!

This credit union is unsat...Its online service has to be the worse I have ever used. I went to the store and debit was declined. They cancelled it mistakingly...Called to get issue corrected and sent to voice mail three times. No call back for a day so no use of card. You get sent to voice mail and have to leave a message with any problem you have which I find totally unsat. If I wasnt on plan with parents I would immediately leave. I highly recommend you use any other credit union you can find.
