Banked here for a decade now. There's always something whether it's blocking charges on joint account, amounts, the recent app fiasco, and now I can't deposit a check because the app lays the photo button right under the home screen button. EDIT: They changed the app the very next day after a manager called and spoke with me which was awesome of them to do. And also want to mention how ridiculous that recent app uodate stuff was. I couldn't access my bank account for nearly a week with phone lines and the branch itself completely tied up with cars backed into the street. If you can, bank elsewhere and save yourself the trouble

Thinking about changing banks after being a member since like 2008 that says enough do I really need to type anything extra members actually own this branch but the way the staff talks to the members seems a little bit backwards Currently exploring my options because customer service is very important to me as well is making everybody feel like they matter not just certain people!!

Homebase Credit Union is my go-to local banking solution for a reason! Their customer service is truly the best, and I always feel like I'm receiving a warm welcome and very personalized service. It's great to have a bank that makes you feel valued every time you walk through the door. I highly recommend them!

Update: Last week I created a contact for myself in Zelle. Friday I tried transferring myself 100.00. The transfer was blocked by HBCU until I called and verified the contact. Nobody from the credit union has contacted me so their response to my initial review is BS. We have left messages for the Branch Manager and apparently she can’t be bothered with talking to customers. For some reason, this credit union doesn’t want us to have access our own money. Based on how they are treating us how are they treating active duty service members stationed outside Virginia? If you value good customer service don’t even consider this organization. First, we have been members of Homebase Credit Union, formerly Fort Lee Federal Credit Union, since 1994 (31 years). This credit union has gone downhill, in terms of customer service, over the past few years. Their security procedures with Zelle, for example, make it virtually impossible to transfer money on the weekends and they place a hold on the transfer until the receiver is verified the next business day. Since December 2024 when have been locked out of bill pay because a payee returned a payment (took one month, yes one month, to unlock bill pay). Because of the lock of bill pay we were not able to use Zelle after business hours to pay someone performing work for us. Recently we tried sending 750.00 to our SIL on a Saturday and Homebase block the transfer until I called and verified the received on Monday morning. What if this was an emergency? Discussing the issue with Homebase employees (to include an email to the manager) was a joke and total waste off my time. This institution does not care about members. In the past few years Homebase Credit Union has been more concerned about WOKE and DEI initiatives instead of customer service. Moving my accounts and money to another institution.

Since they became Homebase Credit Union they are horrible. I see a review that David left I agree 100% I sent a $1000 to my checking account. VIA Zelle only to learn they have closed my account. I didn’t receive a letter a voicemail a phone call nothing. I found out when I called. The lady was very rude. She said oh I am suppose to call operations when you call. Then she gets back on telling me my account has been closed and turned to collections and if I pay the money I owe I can open my account back up in 6 months. No thank you! You weren’t trying to hear anything I was trying to say. But I answered my own questions. I didn’t have access to mobile banking because they closed my account without warning so how do you expect me to transfer money if you closed my account locked me out of mobile banking and I live in Fayetteville NC. I got approved for a vehicle loan at Navy Federal Credit Union. I will be refinancing my vehicle loan through them and move my business to Navy Federal! I will pay off my line of credit as well as my visa credit card with only $500 limit for over 10yrs at Homebase! NFCU approved me first time $3000 credit limit. Thank you NFCU. I miss Ft. Lee Credit Union, However, I definitely won’t miss Homebase Credit Union or its new branch manager! Just throw the whole branch away!
