With a heavy heart, I must post this review of my disappointing and rude customer service experience with NFCU customer service agents. I have been an NFCU member for over 20 years and have received the utmost respect and courtesy from customer service representatives. Darren, who happened to be Alex's supervisor, was very rude, raising his voice, and then said he had not raised his voice after 10 minutes of conversation, which was totally unprofessional. Yes, over the last 20 years, I have patiently gone through software updates, etc., with Navy Federal, but as Darren and Alex stated, "if your balance updated, you have those funds available; however, the computer did not recognize it as a post because you made an account transfer at 6:15 pm pst when it was after 8:30 pm est, therefore, it declined my incoming check." Now, all the customer service agents I have spoken to in the last 20 years would have apologized and expressed empathy. Mr. Darren turned the call into one that made me feel lower than when I called; his tone and words were degrading. It should be noted that he is a Caucasian male, and I am an African American female. I understand I have to accept the ramifications of "something I did not know," because, as Darren stated, "sometimes the computer catches the 4 hrs before transaction and sometimes not." With that said, in my opinion, Darren should not be in a customer service position, but rather behind a wall somewhere, working with minimal interaction with customers. Because customer service representatives' attitude and response to members are paramount, we are why that job position exists. In closing, yes, I expect more from NFCU customer service representatives, and most of all, I have been consistently exceeded by their service, except for one instance with Darren. I had a horrible banking experience with Darren. Please be aware!

As a vet I’ve been banking with navy federal for over 20 years as they claim to help vets but this is clearly just a marketing ploy. They do not actually help vets in any way other than trying to get their business, there is no heart in this company whatsoever. All you are is a number to them, it doesn’t matter how long you bank here they will never know you other than a number. If you are a Vet I highly recommend you stay away from banking here, and if you already do I would recommend to start looking elsewhere for a more reliable and personable bank. Just my opinion

If I can rate Navy Federal Credit Union a zero stars I would. They have made my life a mess for the past month and a half. I opened a personal account and three business accounts. I made a deposit to one of the business accounts (over $30k but less than $40k). The security department flagged it as fraud. They contacted the issuing party three times to verify the check was good that was in August 2025, and was told the checks were good yet they froze all my accounts. Here we are 19 September 2025 and I still do not have access to my account. I incurred a fee from a company because Navy Federal returned the check unpaid. The security department has refused to speak to me regarding the reason why the account remain frozen. Except for Jessica, The customer service representatives are no help they simply read what’s in their computer and basically say there’s nothing they can do. I emailed the President on LinkedIn, he had EO called to let me know they looking into it, I am still waiting. This is very frustrating and Navy Federal do not care. Would they have been so nonchalant if this was one of their family member or friends? Navy Federal is basically hiding my accounts hostage for no reason. Simply ridiculous. I will never do business with them again

Long time NFCU member, retired veteran. NFCU had always given me great service up to the last month. The mortgage department has been really difficult to work with, with the exception of one person (Keara) my loan has been on hold for someone in underwriting not responding to a question on a termite inspection, it’s been a week with no answers. NFCU you can do better.

I’m not happy with NFCU. I’ve gotten 2 car loans from them always at a super high rate. I had a 758 credit score and they told me 8% on my Camaro. Then a month after I got the Camaro they changed the interest to 12%. I was in the market for a truck. With a 742 hard pull they offered me 9% interest. I was on the phone with them when I was at the dealership. The dealership said if I really had a 742 they could get me a way better rate. I walked out of the dealership with a 5% interest from a small local credit union. Then I refinanced my Camaro with the small local credit union at a 6% interest rate. I’ll never get a loan or anything from NFCU again. They give the highest rates and take advantage from young active duty members.
