They have really great rates and they are very competitive when comparing a credit union to a bank and what they offer. Where they lack is caring about the customer. They have become numb. To them you're just another person. I was caring for my dad in October and he passed away. I was so busy with him and then afterwards grieving, I missed my October payment. I'm 55 years old and never missed a payment and I have never been late on paying anything in my life, my credit score is 823. They only called to tell me it was being reported to the credit bureau. I wish they would have called beforehand. I brought them a copy of the death certificate. I went to the bank the same day they called me and made two payments to show I had the funds to cover it immediately. I showed them my credit report and that I had never had a late in my entire life. They only said" you'll recover" It's not that big of a deal. My credit score dropped to 722. I realize they probably deal with people on a regular basis who don't pay their bills on time and who don't care but I'm not one of those people. But they will treat you like you are. I think they should have the ability to make exceptions.

Once They Make a Mistake, You’re the One Who Pays for It. I’ve been a member at DuPont Community Credit Union for over 8 years and expected fairness and trust. What I got instead was negligence and finger-pointing. After reporting a check issue that DCCU mishandled, they failed to correct the problem and tried to hold me responsible for their own error. They issued deficiency notices, threatened collections, and even held collateral on my vehicles while ignoring clear facts and documentation. Every attempt I made to communicate or resolve things professionally was brushed off or ignored. Their staff showed little accountability and seemed unfamiliar with proper dispute-handling procedures. No member should have to fight their own credit union for fair treatment. DCCU’s actions were careless and caused unnecessary financial hardship. I wouldn’t recommend this institution to anyone who values honesty or transparency. If you’re considering opening an account or loan here, think twice. Once they make a mistake, you’re the one who pays for it. If I could give a negative rating, I would — that’s how poor my experience has been. Even long-time members can find themselves unfairly blamed for problems they didn’t cause. Don’t expect quick resolutions either — you’ll likely spend hours per week waiting at the counter while the teller calls upstairs to upper management and waits for them to make decisions about whether or not they should allow you to withdraw/spend your hard-earned money. Based on my experience, DCCU does not operate with the member-focused approach it promotes.

I have been with them 25 years. 99.9% has been positive the people that work in the front lines in the bank like the tellers and the loan people in the branch managers are excellent upstanding people and they do a great job. There are however several people who work in the main branch up high that are not friendly and make personal insults to their members, that go unaddressed. They make a scene as though it doesn't care that you are an owner and you have been a member there for a quarter of a century. I still have two lines there so I kept my account open but one of my accounts I did close hopefully maybe get somebody's attention about how the Legacy members aren't treated well. And that only comes from the central office

They see my deposit pending but they are not releasing it. I rent from enterprise car rental a lot and when they send me my deposit back I get my funds immediately. But this time DuPont is holding it like it’s there’s. And I don’t owe DuPont money they just holding my funds. I’ll be closing my account as soon as it’s released

Ya know, when you send your current Real ID/Va Drivers license with your cash deposit in the canister at the drive through window, and the teller is looking at you holding it, there is NO REASON to ask you to verify your birthday to prove who you are over a loud speaker for the world to hear.
Weekdays 9am–4pm typically have the shortest wait times for new member inquiries.
Your deposits are federally insured up to $250,000 per account category by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
