Wow!! Is all I can say. I didn’t think this type of service still existed. We actually felt like members and not numbers. We opened an account with Margaret at the Westbow branch. She truly is a Member services SPECIALIST!! She guided us through the process and made an effort to know us and our real life needs. Just can’t say enough. She even to the time to introduce us to the branch manager, every staff member was the same. Such an amazing refreshing experience.

A Missed Opportunity for True Community Values — Refused a Second Chance After Full Repayment I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but my experience with Cheney Federal Credit Union has truly been disappointing — not because of what happened years ago, but because of how unwilling they are to recognize personal growth and integrity. A few years back, during one of the hardest times in my life, my checking account was closed with a small balance — around $130 — and sent to collections. I take full ownership of that mistake. I paid it off completely once I got back on my feet, and since then, I’ve worked hard to build stability and success. When I recently reached out to Cheney Federal Credit Union to ask about reestablishing a positive banking relationship, I was told they would not do business with me again because the account had once caused a “financial loss.” Even after explaining that I had paid it in full — and offering to reimburse the credit union directly for any portion they didn’t recover through collections — I was still told no. That response was extremely discouraging. I’m now in a very strong financial position, with an income that would make me a valuable and reliable member for any credit union. Yet despite demonstrating accountability, maturity, and a clear track record of growth, Cheney Federal Credit Union refused to even consider my request. For an institution that promotes “community,” “trust,” and “support,” this feels unfair and out of line with those values. People grow. People change. And when someone takes responsibility and proves they’ve turned their life around, they should be given the same opportunity as anyone else to rebuild trust. I was advised to reach out to the COO, Lynn, to see if anything could be done — and I genuinely hope this review reaches her or someone within leadership who believes in fairness, compassion, and true community banking. I’m not asking for special treatment — just an equal opportunity to re-earn trust and show I’ve grown.

Everyone was so nice when we joined the credit union. Margaret was very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient when she helped us set up a CD. They're close by which makes it very convenient to drop by when you need to. I'd definitely recommend them!

The people at CFCU are kind and patient. Whenever I call or need help they take the time to give me the right information, and I never feel rushed or like a bother. Their home and car loan rates are also great.
Weekdays 9am–4pm typically have the shortest wait times for new member inquiries.
